Got extra visa - confused

Here are my time lines for Tier-1 General visa
Initial Grant of Visa: 01,Nov,2008
Expiry of Initial visa: 01,Nov,2011
Date of application (by post) for extension: 31,Oct,2011
Approval letter dated 29,Dec,2011 is received on 31,Dec.2011.
BRP received on 05/Jan/2011.

But the problem is: The date of expiry of new visa on BRP = 29, Dec, 2013
and date of issue is 29,Dec,2011

So obviously, the CW issued visa from date of approval which should be the case with those applications made 1 month before expiry of current leave, according to the Tier-1 guidance.
Is it done by mistake? Should I report it to HO ?

This is fine, no mistakes here. New leave will be valid from the date of decision no matter when your old leave expired

Consider yourself lucky! You just got an extra month to play with if you are falling short of 5 years if and when you apply for settlement.
