No its not a silly question. Any soliciter or lawyers out there please give your advice since there is also "Notorised" which is another legal way of processing a doc.

I suppose one process is done with witnesses or certain stamps?

Here I will explain to you what it means... This is how I got my papers certified... Please use that term, it is more correct IMO

I went to a solicitors, any that specialise in certifying documents
I took with me my original passport, and my mum and dads passport
We made a copy of all the passports
Me my mum and my dad
And then the solicitor stamped and signed the sponsorship letter and the photocopies of each passport to prove they are genuine
Thaen the solicitor told me to repeat after him, "That I certify this is my correct blah blah blah lol like your saying your wedding vows
Pay £5-£10

Ta-da its done lol

That's all it is, dont get confused with the terms

Copy of my (sponsers) passport, and copy of applicants NIC card I will get attested. All the other documents are originals.

Do I need any of these other docs attested? Like the parents letter of accomodation? My cover/sponsership letter? Housing report?
The only thing that you need to get certified copies of from the UK is your passport.

In Pakistan the things that need to be attested are any items that have to be translated from Urdu to English. So stuff like Nikah Nama.

Been a while since I last posted here, my hubby is due to submit his visa soon Insha'Allah IF he passes his English test which is on the 14th January then he will get to know if he has passed on the 28th Jan.

Today he told me that the English certificate that he will recieve to show he has passed will get sent to the UK first and something to do with a chip in it? Has anyone heard of this? Has anyone been through this process?

They are just make it soooo unbelievable impossible to allow them to enter the UK now, I feel like slapping Thearesa May kasme

Anyways if someone has heard about the above about the certificate can you kindly please clarify what they are on about

First time I have heard anything like this. What test did he take?

All I know is that he is studying at SLS College Jhelum, I dont even know which test provider he is taking his exam with.

I thought so that no-one would have heard of it, why would the college say that though?

Will the college book the exam? If so, ask them the name of it.

Hi Nazia

My hubby did the exam with SLS College. It took them 3 weeks to return the results as they said it needed to be marked externally. If you are on facebook, look for SLS College and you will see what their certificates look like.

I have never heard this chip thing.....

On his certificate it says EMD as awarding body

I don't know anything about a chip but I think when the test is done in Pakistan it is then sent to the uk to get marked and this is y it takes so long for you to recieve it back this happened to my wife back in June 2012 but she did the EMD test as this was the valid test back then and she got her results in 20 days hope this helps.

Have been reading this thread for a while now and thought I would throw my experience in the mix.

Applied for my wife from Mirpur on the 08/12/2011 Status changed from Forwarded to Islamabad OC to Under Process at BHC within 2 weeks. Status has been like that ever since the 21/12/2011.

There are a few people who have submitted just before and after me in December.

Wifes friend got hers in 2 weeks in December.
Hope status changes this week.

Will keep you posted.

Regarding the status code I have emailed Abu Dhabi since they seem to be the ones to actually reply where as from Islamabad you just get the data protection act thrown in your face.

I have asked if the application was forwarded to Abu Dhabi first and then forwarded to Islamabad on the 21/12/2011.

Read some where that Abu Dhabi make the decision and then the application gets sent to Islamabad for them to stamp the Passport.

Any body confirm this ? Will see what reply I get from Abu Dhabi.

Very good point on top of that many ECO's would probably have done what I did which is take 3 days off for a total of 10 days off in a row (24 Dec - 2 Jan) so personel levels would have been a bit short.

So your correct in minus at least a week.

I've noticed that the probabilty of getin a reply sooner is somehow more with cases submitted at Mirpur so good luck:p

Thanks enigma321, Nazia + XnailaX for your replies about the certification.

I have another question, does the applicant in pakistan give in their original pakistani passport? Or certified copy? Like they will give certified copy of NIC.

Because i saw on the database https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... _US#gid=21

that people are requested to hand in thier passports at a later date after the application is successful?

There is not really much point in nagging them about any of this really they wil deal with your case in thier own time. I know you want to know the status but so does everyone else and the info they give out is the only info available. But let us know if you get any reply back from Abu Dhabi.

The person applying for the visa has to hand in the original passport. This so when they stamp it with the visa, they can do it there and then. Rather than wait for the person to return with the passport to get it stamped.

I have similar dates to a few people on here...I was just wondering has anyone's employer been contacted yet to confirm employment? I keep checking the status of the app online but husband is telling me there is no point until my hr department has been contacted......

Do they always ring ur employer?

Hi Shabbo13,

No, they do not always check. Only some employers are contacted.. For instance if they are not satisfied with any information that you may have supplied then they may make checks etc.

Good Luck

Hi Shabbo13,

Our dates are identical. Where did you submit your application from?

I posted earlier and reckon that I wont hear back till last week of January or first week of Feb (at the earliest). It seems like a long time to wait and it is!!

BUT.....

If you break it down to working days from the 23rd Dec then it is not much time (relatively speaking of course). From 23rd Dec To the 31st January it is only 24 working days of application checking. That takes into account of the bank holidays.

Although the application was submitted on 12th Dec (it will be one month tomorrow!!) the ten working days elapsed to 23rd Dec must be the backlog of earlier applications.

The best thing we can all do is dua inshAllah. The power of dua should never be underestimated!

I pray that Allah (SWT) unites us swiftly with our spouses. Ameen.
