Could someone please tell me how long after obtaining ILR can you apply for a british passport?

at least 12 months after ILR considering you are fulfilling other requirements as well.

You can't apply for a British passport if you are not a British citizen. Having ILR is not enough.

To apply for British Citizenship, there are several requirements to meet. One of them is 12 months since ILR unless you are married to British citizen (In that case, you can apply the day after ILR if you meet these requirements.

:oops: Sorry i didnt realise those where links.

A friend told me that you could only apply for naturalisation after having ILR for 3 years? So that is why i was enquiring as I couldnt find anywhere stating this 3 year period.

They were probably confusing the 3 year rule with being able to apply for BC immediately after obtaining ILR if married to a British Citizen providing they've been in the UK legally for a minimum of 3 years.

Heavens, with respect, I can appreciate you are trying to help, but this is the 3rd time you've given incorrect information on the qualifying period for BC.
Fortunately, each time you've been corrected before the member has taken your advice. If you're not absolutely sure of the regulations, it's best not to respond.
