My guess is junior staff process straightforward ones and then stamp and others are sent to (may be) senior case worker thus take time.

I hope they don't pick envelopes which are flashy first coz mine was very dull!
I-L-R-2011 wrote:Do you think that ILR applications are processed at two diffrence places? becouse I can see, some body appling on 18/08/2011 got approval on 09/12/2011 and some body applying on 19/08/2011 got approval on 06/01/2012 and who appliled on 30/08/2011 got approval on 10/1/2012.

There is no uniformity of the approval by applied dates.....they going back and forth. Any reason why?

So, which "others" would be sent to senior caseworkers? Mine is Set O, so is that pretty much straight forward? It does seem though that they are processing lots of applications sent in August. So, maybe Septembers aer just around the corner.

This is just my theory or may be something I must have dreamt which I know is wrong.

Yeah, I have no idea. I had all my forms filled out and everything was straightforward on my application (just me, no dependents)- still this is week 19 of waiting. My MP is making an inquiry, but wont get a reply for 21 days. . . so I might not get a reply until I get the passport.

Can do. I wrote an email just saying how I thought it was unreasonable that it was taking so long and that there was no way to get any information in the meantime. I also pointed out that I have been asked to travel by my employer and I cannot give them a date that I can be available which is putting stress on my position . . .this is the job that my application is based on. I also have elderly parents living overseas- hopefully I will not need to make a trip, but if I do it is quite impossible to get anything done. She replied within 24 hours saying that she would be happy to look into it for me but the Home Office tells MP's that they will respond within 21 days. I am slightly happier now that i have some kind of date to look forward to. there are so many ways to make this easier for everyone involved. I will update when I get info or a result. Hopefully they don't slide my application back to the bottom for being difficult. ;)

Got mine in the post today:
Sent application: Sept 7
Confirmation letter dated: Sept 12
ILR stamped 9th January

So after all the agonizing wait- it is here. Good luck to all in getting yours in a timely manner.
Fun fact: though everything sent back to me was sent with a 'signed for' label, there was actually no postage on it. Only a sticker from revenue protection to pay £3 for postage and a handling fee. The postman did not ask for it though, he was probably just glad I am not going to bother him anymore! ;)

Good luck all.

Got the passports back today with ILR approved!! :D

Application sent: 22 Aug 2011
Confirmation letter dated: 26 Aug 2011
ILR stamped: 12th Jan 2012

A 'sorry we missed you' card was waiting in the post this evening, luckily collection was available until 8pm today so just collected the passports with ILR stamped. UKBA have also returned all the original documents we sent.

Good luck to everyone waiting for the outcome of their application.

My place of employment does not have a letter box. So, what if my "goods" are delivered on the weekend and my school is closed. There would be no way to leave a "sorry we missed you" card. It would go back to the post office but would they try and re-deliver it? I had it delivered to the school I work at.

I think all post at official places or organisations is delivered on working days so you should be alright. The post in my office is also delivered at the central post-room and always on a working day.

Also if any of you guys included a return special-delivery envelope with your ilr file and saved the tracking number/code then keep checking it every morning on royal mail website. This way you will find out a day earlier that your package has left UKBA office.
