Permission to remain query which stamp?

Post by filish11 » Mon Jan 23, 2012 1:19 pm

Hi All,

I had a stamp on my passport with permission to remain with date but no type of stamp but I had a stamp 4 is in my GNIB card. Do I have to use the stamp in my GNIB card for residency calculator to calculate my residency in applying for naturalization.

Thanks.

all information on various stamps are here:
http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/Stamps

for naturalisation you count all stamps 1, 3 and 4

Thanks you so much for your reply. So it means that the stamp that I need to use for residency calculator as stamp type will be the stamp on my GNIB and the permission to remain date will be the one on my passport?

you can easily see in the gnib card what stamp do you hold currently.

That is correct.

The "stamp" on your passport basically defines the dates you begin the calculations while the STAMP x on you GNIB card defines the type of stamp you have.

As a rule of the thumb, the dates on the stamp in your passport should match the dates on your GNIB card.

All the best

New Query - Permission to Remain Stamp on Passport

Post by filish11 » Mon Feb 06, 2012 11:05 pm

Hi everyone, thank you very much for all your replies. You are all very helpful. I have checked on residency calculator and it's both ok so I am preparing everything now:)

I have a new question, my residency permission/ permission to remain stamp is in my old passport. Do I have to photocopy and certify that page as well as the identity page of my old passport? Or is it just a pge containing the permission to remain stamp?
