For first, there is no need to write down the actual profession of the referee. He just needs to hold that profession.serendepity wrote:Hi,
I have a little bit different question than previous ones. My referee put in her job title instead of profession and I asked her to add profession (accountant) to it to make sure it will be accepted. But now it's so long it's outside the field on the form.
Do you think it will be a problem? I searched internet and couldn't find anything about it. In guide to the form and on the form there's nothing about writing outside boxes when filling the form.
I would be happy to get my referees to fill in the form again but I'm having trouble to contact one of them and I'm not sure I will be able to do this before NCS meeting. Unfortunately I don't know any other British Citizen who knows me at least 3 years so I can't ask anyone else to be my referee.
Should I call Home Office and ask them directly? I can't call NCS because in Wandsworth you only get reception for Register Office, you can't talk to anyone over the phone.
Any advice?
Naturalisation applications are less strict compared to visa applications. During the NCS appointment, the advisor kept on writing outside the boxes all the time.serendepity wrote:Thanks for your reply. I heard that someone's visa request was refused because he wrote outside boxes. That's why I'm asking.
I will try to get to referees to sign the form again. I'm just a little stressed about not being able to contact one of them. I have 3 more days to get to him.
Youre asked to stay inside the boxes as these are scanned, hence any vital information outside the box may get left out. Thanks for your reply. I heard that someone's visa request was refused because he wrote outside boxes. That's why I'm asking.

But the form is scanned as a whole, not just the boxes (at least this was the case 2 years ago). I doubt the HO modify their scanning software every time they update the form. It is just easier to scan the full page.gidoc wrote:Youre asked to stay inside the boxes as these are scanned, hence any vital information outside the box may get left out. Thanks for your reply. So if its vital info, then you need to stay in the box and I would have the form filled again, if its trivial info, then leave it as it is.
Vital info= signature, name etc
Where exactly it's stated you have to stay inside the boxes as it's scanned. It's not in the form and it's not in the guide. I did some search on the internet and couldn't find such statement. That's why I asked here.gidoc wrote:

If you don't have it from previous letters from the HO, just leave blank.calimero wrote:I hope someone can shed some light on this ?
In section 1.1 its asking for "previous immigration and natiaonality directorate or border and immigration agency or uk border agency reference numbers"
Any ideas where i can find these numbers from ?

The last page of the application form (from AN) clearly lists what is required. If you do not meet the requirements, you need to tick Q 6.6 in the form and provide information in Q 6.7.sur wrote:Hi Guys,
Can some one please guide on what all documents are to be submitted when applying for British Citizenship. And also if any document in particular is needed if discretion for the last 1yr ILR period is required (been away for 200 days due to Business commitments, but fulfilled previous 5 yr stay).
Thank You,
Kind Regards,

I was also wondering about this, as it seems a bit different from ILR dates.spivakanastasiya wrote:Hello,

Dec 2004.spivakanastasiya wrote:Hello,

1) Student Visa Dec 2004 to Apr 2008
2) Got a dependent visa on HSMP husband in April 2008, received in UK without leaving country.
3) Got an ILR visa in Feb 2011
The question is which date should I insert into 2.1. Can I apply after 1 year
of ILR (Feb 20012)?
Thanks
bump, any feedback would be most welcome Thanks, AstridAshyboo wrote:Hi there
I already posted yesterday under a separate post with regards to my AN application but received a response to one portion of my question. The question surrounds references. As I don't really know a British professional who has known me for more than 3 years to give me a reference, will a reference from a British professional who has known me for at least 2.5 years suffice? Or is that just wishful thinking on my part and it has to be 3 or more years? The other reference is not a problem. I can't get one from my GP cause my health has never failed me, apart from the occasional cold, don't go to church, don't have an accountant cause I think I manage my money rather well and the list goes on. The only professional who appears on the list that I can get a reference from is a Director but he's since retired and I'm told his reference won't count.
I am aware than one from another nationality will suffice. However, will the HO allow me to submit a copy of the reference page, which was signed and scanned and emailed through and then printed off?
I would ideally like to submit my application by the end of the week but this is the only portion of the form that is holding things up for me. I have everything else already in place ready to be sent off.
Many thanks in advance for any responses received
Astrid
P.S Why is it that things never go smoothly for people who want to do things by the book?

I came to UK on 01/01/01 on a tourist visa [and that was the date I used for my ILR application.
Then I went back to my home country and got a student visa in June 2001.
But then when they mention 'intention to settle in UK' could that be the ILR application or approval date; as none of my previous visas/permits are really showing intention to settle.
Thanks.
