STUDENT visa Extension , help needed

Post by DesperateStudent » Tue Oct 17, 2006 3:02 pm

I am an Overseas student , currently in Scotland . I am here on a Student Visa , which will expire by Feb 2007

Can you please say how I can extend my STUDENT visa ?

Unfortunately I am not sureabout whether I would be able to pass my current course , so I am looking for doing another course

Can anyone please say what will be the best option for me ?

I have been getting some employment offers but could not take them because of my lack of a HSMP

( I have 4 + years of experience in IT )

Can you please say whether there is any way I can work here ?

I am not particular of any Visa as long as I can work atleat part time

Hi Smith

Thanks for your reply , but the Fresh Talents scheme can be considered only if Iget a Masters' degree.

Though I had been doing a Masters course , I wont unfortunately pass

I can only say I completed my Masters degree , but UNSUCCESSFULL

Can I still be eligible for studying another course ?

I am almost sure of getting admission to even Research courses based on my experience and Previous qualification , but will my FAILURE in my previous course be a hindrance ?

Wrong, you don't need a Master's degree to apply. The rules state that you must "Have been awarded an HND, or a UK recognised undergraduate degree, Master's degree or PhD by a Scottish institution of Higher or Further Education."

Did you obtain your undergraduate degree from a Scottish university and if yes, when?

Hi Friend
Did you pay your tuition fee (NOT registration fee)?
Did you attend the course regularly?

This is important information if you want people to help you.

Hi Adindas

Yes

I had paid my fees in full within 2 months of start of the course

( All of £8000 !! )

Also I don't owe any sort of Finanical dues to the University

And yes I had attended the course regularly

Can you please give me any advice ?

Ask the letter from your university explaining trhat you could continue your study (and when aproximately it will finish), you have attended the course regularly.

Given you fulfill the following condition:
-You get the letter from ujiversity (as above)
- You are studying full time at a university taking a degree course (Not College, non-degree or language school),. From your cpurse fee stucture it seems that you satisfy this condition.
- You have enough money in the bank account, to maintain your live additional tuition fee (if any)

I believe that almost 100% you could get student VISA extension. You could even get it at the same day if you apply in person.

I have seen this case many times.

As a student you are entitle to take part time job 20 hours during school term 40 hours during holiday. You can not work on permanent job. For this you need a work permit.

Hope this will naswer you question
Good Luck

Hi Adindas

Unfortunately , my course structure is such that I wont be having an option of resitting or redoing any module

So I dont think the University will be offering me an extension

( Thats why I am also looking at doing a new course )
