HELP!!! Will increase from 19k to 23k in 2007 affect ILR?

Post by GSOtodd » Wed Jan 18, 2012 12:39 am

Panic
Would this be a substantial increase that my employer needed to let the HO know about back in 07. They increased my salary due to me getting more responsibiliteis (it wasn't a promotion). They've never queried it when I've extended my work visas.

This increase from 07 has caused my salary to be 28,000 in 2009 when they extended my work permit (also due to my normal pay rise each year as a qualified teacher). With that pay rise in 07 and with my normal yearly pay rises, my salary has gone from 28,000 in 2009 (my last work permit extension) to 35,000 currently.

Keep in mind that I had normal increases each year plus that increase in 07 when gave me an increase due to having more responsibilites as a teacher. Also, back in 2007, my job (teaching job) was on the shortage list.

I'm concerned that a case worker is going to see all these increases and refuse my application. Is 28,000 in 2009 to 35,000 in 2012 too big of an increase? Do I have anything to worry about? Or, do I worry for nothing and really need to chill?

I sent in my ILR application on the 5 September and still haven't received my passport back yet. Could this be why it is taking it so long (because a caseworker is having to investigate it)? Or, would I have known by now if this was a problem. Remember, the increase in 2007 was not queried by caseworkers when I extended my work permit/tier 2 for the last two times since then.

I don’t think so it would be a problem. You could be earning 28k in 2009 and 35 or even more than 35k in 2012. I think this is a good thing. If you were getting less salary than in 2009, then you could be in trouble (if it was below your new Tier-2 threshold).

Hey, absolutely. Also, I've contact my MP and hopefully he will get involved. There is no sense in them taking this long when I've been over here for more than six years, paid taxes, and paid this outrageous fee for my ILR.

No way it will be a problem. On the other hand the case worker would be one of the happiest creature in this world to grant you ILR coz they want high earner who can pay high taxes ....u know what i mean...hahaha
