Me and my wife received ILR on 9th AUG 2011. So my question is when can we submit our application for British citizenship. Can we submit it on 10th July 2012 or we have to wait till 9th August 12 to send the application form.

Thanks in advance
You gotta complete 1 year before apply. so apply after August. Also check for other requirements.

some below:
been resident in the UK for at least five years (this is known as the residential qualifying period); and
been present in the UK five years before the date of your application; and
not spent more than 450 days outside the UK during the five-year period; and
not spent more than 90 days outside the UK in the last 12 months of the five-year period; and
not been in breach of the Immigration Rules at any stage during the five-year period.
Thanks a lot strajeev. Will apply for nationality in first week of August then. Thanks

Identity Card

Post by Panesar » Wed Feb 08, 2012 2:15 pm

Hi,

I was recently granted ILR as spouse of a British Citizen and since i've been in the UK since 2004, i understand that i can apply for citizenship straight away.

My question is that when i was granted FLR (M) two years ago (i was on a work permit before that), i was issued with an Identity Card for Foreign Nationals and no vignette was present in my passport. When i was granted the ILR, the Home Office retained my identity card.

For the AN application i need to show that i've been in the country for the past three years. As i no longer have the identity card, is submitting the passport with ILR sufficient? I'm sure the Home Office will have a record of all this, but was just seeking views on the matter. Thanks!

Homeoffice won't issue ILR unless u've been here long enough. Right? Don't worry. I am kind of similar to your category & got nationality last week. Once you have completed 1 year of ILR & meet all other requirments, you can apply straight ahead. (also you should have a stamp on your passport on the day of arrival; also you can explain it with a cover letter.
Wish u all the best.

Referee

Post by rajathwp » Wed Feb 22, 2012 12:10 pm

Hi,

I am afraid couldn't find the answer of my query on this forum. Please can you tell me - Do we need separate referees for my wife and my self (total 4) I reckon I can use my Son's nursery teacher as a referee for my son's form.

Any advise would be appreciated... Cheers

You can use the same referees assuming they know both of you.

Cheers Mate.

I am planning to use same (one) British Passport holder for my and my wife's application.

2 different people ( ILR with Indian Passport Holder ) working as Contractor ( Director of VAT registered company ) and second referee is working as AVP ( Associate Vice President ) in JP Mogran.

I reckon it meets the criteria for referees. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Many Thanks in advance ...

About AN Form Questions

Post by banku » Fri Mar 30, 2012 1:25 pm

Hi all,
I am filling in the AN form for Naturalisation for me & my wife (Joint Application)
There are certain things I am not sure and seeking your advise in that please.

1.37 - 1.43 : Me & My wife both were previously married , Do we have to mention the details of each other's previous partners ?

2.2 : Details of Absences from UK ... It sounds a bit silly but just want to do it right so the question is suppose I went on Holidays on 02-April-2010 & Came back on 12-April-2010 ... Do we count them 11 days or 10 days ?

3.5 : Address of Tax office or Tax office Reference
What do we put in this one?

Could the referee be some one who lives in U.K on Work Permit or on ILR as I do not know some one that well who could be our referee?

Your Help regarding these questions will be highly appreciated .
Kind Regards.

Re: references

Can PCSO (Police community support officer) act as the professional reference?
The UKBA document only mentions Police Officers :(

I have a couple of question with regards to filling the application might sound silly but still wanted to confirm on the forum

1. In section 1.21 - I plan to attend in the local council so can I leave it blank?

2. For 2.1 what date should I write entered as student in 2002 and changed in country to WP in 2006. I know it has been answered a couple of times but still asking with the other ones I have.

3. For 3.4 - Address of employer - should I write the address on the payslips (which is the head office in UK) or the location I am working which is different from the above.

4. Another thing is the about address and absences from UK in last 5yrs. Do we need to start from the latest and work our way back or the other way round?

Thanks

Yes. leave blank.

2002.
3. For 3.4 - Address of employer - should I write the address on the payslips (which is the head office in UK) or the location I am working which is different from the above.
I don't think it would matter much. I would put head office.
4. Another thing is the about address and absences from UK in last 5yrs. Do we need to start from the latest and work our way back or the other way round?
Doesn't really matter although more logical to start from the latest and work the way back the 5 years.

Absent periods

Post by Newme » Wed Jun 06, 2012 3:01 pm

Hi guys,

just a quick question, as i am due for submission next week. I am not sure how the number of days absent from the UK are calculated, although i am well within the required days, i want to make my application water tight, hence my question.

For instance, if i traveled out of the uk from 10/01/12 and returned to the UK on 21/01/12, by my understanding i have only spent 10 days out of the UK, but mathimatically, i have spent 11 days out of the UK.

Which of the two is correct?

I thought becasue i was physically in the country on the 10th and 21st of january, those days dont count.

i will appreciate your thoughts, either expert or newbie.....

Thank you

Most of my questions have been answered.

However I am still unsure about the following:

In Section 1.3 (Please enter the day when you were given indefinite leave to enter/remain)

So assuming that I arrived legally in UK in 12th of Sep 2004.
When is the date I got PR? (I thought EE nationals have automatically PR and Indefinite leave to remain according to the guide).
As far as I have understood from the documentation guide you get ILR after 5 years. Thus the date I should write is: 12th of Sep 2009 ? or no

I booked appointment to apply with nationality checking service and they send me a letter which mentions required documents I need to provide:

In the required document list it includes the following:
Proof of their indefinite Leave to Remain status

How do I get that if I am EE?

Thank you

10 days - you don't count the days departing from and returning to the UK.

1. I used the ref number on the letter that came with my ILR - that was the only HO reference I had.

2. Town and country [Current name] at the time of [his] birth

3. Yes, although you need to go a bit further back than 2009 ;)

Thanks for quick reply, still not sure with second question.
To confirm again, father town to mention would be at the time of his birth not the current resident town? Is that correct?
Thanks again

Yes, that is correct - name of the town he was born in.
