Have received no reference number yet.

Called up my credit card company to check if a charge has been made, and they confirmed that there was indeed a charge from Work Permits BUT (this is interesting and also cause of concern) it is only for 155 GBP   !!

Have sent an email to HSMP to advise me of my reference number. Given the way they work, hopefully I'll have the reference number in 2-3 weeks

A charge of 155 GBP :?: , I am completely confused

Home Office Ref No

Post by jd » Fri Oct 20, 2006 4:07 pm

I sent an email to HO asking for ref no/status and received following email in reply.
My appl received on Monday 16th at HO but haven't received ref no yet.

I've paid through bank draft. I think that might be reason for delaying.

Can anyone please tell how much time it take to clear Bank Draft?

Dear Applicant,
Thank you for your email. Your application is not yet on our system and is likely to be with our charging department as it can take some time to reach us from there. Once we receive it we will input it to our system and contact you via post or email regarding receipt and reference number.
Regards

Update: 21-Oct-2006

Out-country applicant, 28+ category

Application sent by FedEx: 13-Oct-06
Application received by HO: 16-Oct-06
Reference No. received: 20-Oct-06
Reference No.: 089***

Still can't figure out why HO has requested authorization for GBP 155 only to my credit card company ?? Checked with credit card company yesterday and still maintain that my credit card has not been "charged". Only an authorization of GBP 155 has been sought by HO, which was given immediately.  :?:

Decision has been made on 21st of October, but they don't want to disclose the decision to me by phone. Just I am wondering does anyone is waiting like me? One more question...
They haven't asked/informed anything to me by email or letter till today.
Just they sent my documents along with the decision letter...
I am unable to conclude anything with this information... Please help me regarding this...

thanks.....

From my experience, last time I applied and called about the decision made, they wouldn't disclose the infomation to me either. I think they do this so the people on the phones don't have to deal with emotional people when they had nothing to do with the decision made.
I am afraid you will have to wait until the letter comes in the mail. However, they are usually really quick about that. It took less than a week for me last time from the time they had made the decision to get the letter back. (I am based out of the united states)
Hope this helps.

"Dear Applicant

Your application was received on the 17/10/06. Your application has not yet been allocated to a caseworker. It should be allocated wihtin the next 3 weeks.

Wow that is great! Thanks for the information. Hopefully this gives all of us a little more hope that things are going faster this month. So I am guessing that you haven't actually recieved the letter yet but you just got confirmation over the phone that it was approved? Hopefully it arrives quickly for you.
Thanks again!

Hopefully I should get in mail this week .Normally it takes 4 to 6 days for normal mails to reach USA from UK.I believe some of you whose decision has been reached on 21 Oct 2006 should try calling them again after 9AM GMT to check about the decision.I believe they should inform you by phone because I had to call them in late nite around 2:00AM to get in touch with them and they informed me about decision and return of documents immediately.
Best wishes
