Referees for Citizenship application

Post by filish11 » Sun Feb 05, 2012 2:12 am

Hi everyone, can my in-laws and Irish friends be my referees for the application or does it have to be somebody who is not a relative or friend like employer or GP?

Thanks in advance.

Once they are not your family members/related to you it is fine.

Quick question,

Do they actually call up the referees you list on your application?

Afterall if they have referred you in writing and signed, that should be enough?

Are they going to be contacted by phone and asked?

One of my referees has sadly passed away since my application was made.
The other has moved to the UK and i don't think he even has an Irish Number/Address any longer.

I was approved, and i don't believe that any of them was contacted.
