Date of referees

I was due to apply for Citizenship today and send off application but my passport is still stuck with my embassy getting renewed. My referees have dated my application form the 15th Feb, 2012. Do the signatures need to be within a certain time frame, ie, if I send my application in hopefully a months time, will they be out of date?

A. You can apply with an expired passport (if you did not renew it).
B. up to 6 months gap is fine for the referees.

Hi

I am due to apply for my BC today! But unfortunately I sent my passport away to my embassy to have it renewed, and due to the closure of the Iranian Embassy in London, it is now in Dublin and they cannot tell me how long it will take to come through! As soon as I get it back I want to send off BC asap, and as the local NCS, is fully booked for a few weeks (and I have no idea when passport will come back) is there any way that I can get my old and new passports certified by a solicitor and send them to HO instead of my original passports? Would solicitor need to copy all pages of expired passport and certify them all? As my ILR sticker is in expired passport?
