It may be worth putting together a list of email addresses for the complaints to be sent to! I am not sure if this is against forum rules. I would appreciate it if someone would clarify that!
what a good idea!!! I whole heartedly agree

Spot on bob-russell I fully concur and would happily and actively participate in such an exercise. No foreign country would do it to their nationals i.e. collect such a big amount of money from them and hold their passports down for 6 months or even more in some cases, so why do it to other nationals? I paid £2,916 and no service has been rendered for collecting such money 5 months later. It's simply unacceptable.

They charge you £972 for just a sticker on your passport, a service which according to them costs £255 to render, and hold your passport down for 6 months and deny you the right to ask for any progress on the application but would charge their citizens a meagre £77.50 for a full passport, give them a tracking number to check for its progress online, a phone number to call for an update and deliver the passport within 2 weeks. What does that tell you? That they don't really give a hoot about foreigners living in their country. I sincerely hope all these nonsense would stop one day.

What a shame...

Post by ratish123 » Fri Feb 17, 2012 9:40 pm

I am so disappointed and so disheartened that I have stopped cribbing now. Lost the track of number of days it has been. Planning in vain to book a holiday for almost 3 months now. Its a shame the way we are being treated. When i see thousands of people around me everyday , i think to myself where did I go wrong. Trust me it was never about the money they are charging, I would have probably paid a couple of grand more to get it sooner. I was assuming postal will be simpler...didn't realize it would be a nightmare.

Talking about a service, I escalated my case a couple of weeks back, with email, post and fax, and till the date, it has not even been acknowledged. This a torcher session, but i am hoping for the best...

Its a request to all, if we are really thinking of putting up a petition, lets not forget this after we get our passports.

I doubt an email requesting an application be expedited will get you any where. The UKBA clearly feel untouchable and hide behind the poor service standards (which should be minimum standards).

I suggest we all email a letter of complaint to the UKBA complaints address once the passports are safely back in your hands. Copy it to the immigration minister and your MP. These complaints need to be processed and only if the numbers are too great will things change.

I expect higher standards when I pay £1500 to the government.
Very good ideal! Personally, I think they are manipulate the time, because they need to decide similar amount of cases as those submitted every day. We need at least complain to some organization and I am also thinking whether there is a way that we can take some legal actions.

Hi Shuklap,

May I ask what did you write in you letter of expediting? Did you send along some other documents/proof supporting your request?

Thanks
No I did not provided any supporting documents. Just wrote a decent email requesting them to look for possibility of expediting the application as my wife wants to join her family to see her mother who is not keeping well.

I can understand that it the wait is really frustrating and getting us no where.

I have now written to my MP that I am dissatisfied with the response UKBA sent through her when I asked her to write to UKBA about the progress of my application.

MP's response was disgusting asking me to wait patiently until UKBA decides.

In my new letter I have told her that UKBA has not yet assigned a case worker to my application for 3 months and she should write to UKBA strongly to act quickly as it is unfair that after being eligible for ILR after 5 years of wait we send in application which UKBA doesn't even bother to act on for 3 months.

I have also written to her that if she can not initiate any action against this then she should forward my concerns to Immigration Minister.

I have now written to MP with cc to Immigration Minister urging him that he should understand the concerns of HSM.

Am now waiting for their response.

Dear Friend TIMING,

Believe me there is no such EMAIL ID in existence which will force UKBA to prioritise your ILR application. It is just a HOAX.

TIMING

You need to write to the LiverPool Settlement Casework address which is in the SET(O) guidance notes.

Even if you write to CROYDON office they will collect your letter and forward to Liverpool office.

Writing to Liverpool will be fast.

IF your circumstances are compassionate then definitely your application will take priority.

Hi All,

I have been receiving many queries on how to expedite the application. I feel each application is unique and timelines are dependent on the complexity or time taken in sorting out the individual details and also on the efficiency of individual case workers.

Processing time of other’s application gives us good idea on AVERAGE timescales only and we should avoid hard comparison b/w timescales of individual applications.

Wish everyone waiting for their ILRs, may get theirs soon.

A lot of applications, particularly SET (M)'s are really straight forward. I am always suspicious when all applications take a minimum time!

There has to be a reason for applications taking a minimum of 16 weeks. I accept that some cases require further enquiries but how often do you hear these are genuinely being made?

They are given minimum standard targets and are more interested in processing to this standard rather than making any attempt to do better.

As I mentioned before my partner needed his passport for a trip abroad. He called UKBA on moday and requested his passport. He asked them before whether it affects my application or not. They said no. He received his passport today. They were very quick to send it. The only information I have about my application now is a caser ID which is written on the letter sent with my partners passport. So waiting game continues.
