Pretty sure this is a standard stock letter. If it is the same as in my sister-in-laws passport it does not mention any details about the category of visa in the passport.

Check the vignette - if it say Indefinite Leave To Remain that's what it is!

Did you get an acknowledgment letter from the UKBA? If you have then it is probably a matter of waiting. Have they taken the money?

If not I would suggest you contact them to make sure the documents have not been lost in the post.

What category is your application? As it's going to be 6 months on Saturday, you can call them on Monday for an update on the application... Goodluck mate

This is an INSULT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New immigration fees proposed

09 February 2012

Immigration minister Damian Green has issued a written ministerial statement proposing an increase in visa fees, and an increase in UK-based visa application fees.

The proposals will be laid in Parliament in 2 separate regulations and, subject to Parliamentary approval, the government hopes to bring the new fees into force from 6 April 2012.

Damian Green said:

'It is only fair that those who use and benefit from the immigration system contribute a higher share of the cost of running it - reducing the burden on the UK taxpayer.'

Fees will increase by only 2 per cent in the majority of cases, but there will be higher increases on certain routes.

A full table of the proposed fees is included in the written ministerial statement, which can be downloaded from the right side of this page.http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... £675 £689

Hi MiraclePrayer, i only started updating the list because a few changes had to be made & you seemed to be away for some reason. Please confirm that you are now back so you can carry on. It's good to keep it update so Polly_s doesn't have any backlog to deal with when she comes back. Will be waiting, thank you.
Chrisrich, your doing an excellent job. Keep at it. Happy to step in ..... but can see you have it under control.

Just an update on my application, spoke to my solicitors and explained my frustration. They called UKBA to enquire status and received the standard 'call after 6 months' line... so I guess its wait for 6 months for me. Given up counting days and weeks... slowly losing my enthusiasm. Don't really care what happens now .....

My wife submitted her ILR(M) application via the settlement checking service on December 6th. At the end of the interview we were told that the waiting time was 'about six weeks'. Since we have now been waiting eleven weeks we contacted the checking service just see what they are telling people who apply at the moment. We received the following reply:

-
The advice from the Home Office is the applications may take anything
from 2 - 6 months. This is the second enquiry I have had this week so
my guess is they have a backlog at the moment.

Unfortunately they won't give me any information so I can't check for
you.
-

I don't doubt that the original estimate was given sincerely. It seems that the Home Office keeps the settlement checking services as much in the dark as the rest of us.

Below is from the UKBA site. Specifically for Settlement....

The service standards

We will:

decide 95% of postal applications within six months; and
decide 90% of applications made in person at a public enquiry office within 24 hours.

So 5% of postal applications take over 6 months!

Even though our Set M application was done through the checking service on Oct 11th, we didn't receive the acknowledgement letter until 13th Jan: just after I sent a letter to Croydon asking what happened to it.

An advisor on another forum said that the application might possibly have only just been picked up early Jan, then a standard letter sent: meaning that Jan 13th could be the start of our wait, not Oct 11th.

Unbelievable if true.

At the moment it seems 95% of postal applications are taking just under six months to process! This seems to be a target rather than a minimum standard.

Hi guys,

I have received my passport back with an ILR stamp in it. The stamp date was 09/02/2012, but I received it much later on 21/02/2012.

The total waiting time was just under 4 month....

I wish everyone here the best of luck and hope to hear more good news from you guys soon.
