Experience with "Named OISC advisors"? Or Can Suggest a G

Post by hopefloats » Tue Feb 21, 2012 5:17 pm

Hi there,

We need to get an Ancestral Visa for my mum, but we've had a nightmare trying to do things on our own (Settlement visa turned down, two appeals etc), so we want to use an agency, but there's so much conflicting feedback with all of them. We've been looking at "Named OISC advisors" - which sound great, but there's some bad feedback online about them.

UK Visa and Immigration looked good, and they've got a lot of positive feedback on their page, but I don't know if it's genuine - a lot of it sounds like the same person. Also found a couple of really bad complaints about them.

Other option is to go with a non-profit immigration team based locally, which is registered with the OISC (I found them on the OISC website).

Any suggestions please?

Ah, lol, I see the forum system replaced the name with "Named OISC Advisors"lol. Um... well, if anyone has any feedback on using an agency - any warnings about any specific one, or suggestions, please could you pm me?

where in the country do you live?

I wouldn't necessarily trust testiomonials from clients on a company's website.

Hi Greenie, thanks for the reply. I live in Gloucestershire Yes, I agree, which is why I did the Google search with the company's name and "complaints" - and that's where I found the two negative feedback posts. The other one (the one I mentioned in the title of this post) had quite a few positive reviews on various forums as well, but there were quite a few negative as well, so a bit mixed.

Depending on where exactly you live, and how far you are willing to travel, you could try:

Turpin and Miller who are a Chambers ranked solicitors firm in Oxford.

Southwestlaw in Bristol

TRP solicitors in Birmingham

Thanks so much! Really appreciate it! I live near Gloucester, but willing to travel if it's worth it. :)

the law centre only offer free advice to those eligible for legal aid by the looks of it - do you know if you qualify?

Ah, I didn't realise. No, we don't qualify. I was checking them out because they're on the OICS website, and they're in Gloucester. Will have a look at the ones you suggested. Thanks so much for the help. :)
