Tier 1 Visas - How many extensions are possible.

hi guys, i have a quest - i am about to finish my tier 1 extension in a few mths after which I will complete 5 years.
how many times is one allowed to extend tier 1? - since I do not want to go for ILR as I intend to return in a couple more years.

Currently, you may extend as many times as times as you wish.

I am wondering if it is going to make any difference? For another ext or ILR you need to undergo same process? Pay Fees? Also you do not loose your citizenship in your home country by ILR. So any difference? May be you can avoid the test which you need to complete if you go for ILR. is that you are trying to avoid?
