dependent went outside this country

I am on tier1 General. I am going to apply ILR this year December 2012. My question is that my dependent went outside this country. Someone told me that dependent cannot stay outside the country continuous no more than 180 days. Is it right?
Secondly, my dependent left this country 3-01-2012 and will come back 2-July-2012

1 -- if we include leaving day (3- January -2012)and return landing day (2-July-2012) then it will be 182 days
2 -- if we do not include leaving day (04-January-2012)and return landing day (1-July-2012) then it will be 180 days

Please let me know which is right option 1 or option 2
