Did UKBA contacted anyone else's employer to verifying anything?

If they always contact employer (if application is on the basis of old WP) for verification; that might be a way to check the progress.

If anyone who have already received their ILR could tell us if their employers were contacted or not. If yes, then how long after that did they get their passports?

It might give all those who are waiting some way of tracking, by asking their employers if they were contacted or not.

I know its a long shot but I am just trying to find any way to track the progress on my application; as I have been waiting for more that 15 weeks now.

Thanks

Most of us have waited at least 15 weeks! Seems that it is taking close to six months as a routine. Unbelievably poor performance and a disgrace to the UK!
New management cannot come too soon!

It might be a black stage in my life, or sth, but at the moment only bad news around my family :(
My father in law had a mini stroke 2 days ago. This came out of the blue to us, as he is a generally healthy man. Needless to say, that we are all worried, and my husband is absolutely worn out. He is recovering well, and we don't want even to think of sth bad happening, but a mini-stroke is a pretty major sign that sth in system is not right.

Now this position of waiting for our papers back is just becoming unbearable, as we feel like packing and going home for a visit, esp. considering that we haven't seen them for 2.5 years (skype can't replace that) and they haven't met personally our 1.5 years old twins
I feel that we should do sth about this situation, and rather than send an expedite letter, which they usually don't even acknowledge, I am thinking of taking the MP route, since they are more likely to acknowledge MP's enquiry.

I need your advice, guys, if you think that's a better approach.

Also, those of you who contacted your MPs, did you make your first contact by email/phone/post or face to face?

How have you worded your request to MP?
Have you sent your MP any extra copies/proofs on top of your letter?

I would really appreciate your help on this.
Thanks

Got it!

Post by ruthmac » Wed Feb 29, 2012 11:25 am

Just to share. My husband received his ILR (postal set M) today!

Our timeline - posted application 22/10/11 by special delivery, passport returned today 29/2/12, so 19 weeks (I think) in all. Letter is dated 18/2/12.

All the best to everyone who's still waiting

Actually, they didn't. I included a special delivery (1-day) SAE and it was returned in that. I can only surmise that it sat on someone's desk for 10 days.

Hi VN,

You just send in your letter to your MP @ House of commons address.

I posted my letter with a recorded delivery and they are quick at contacting UKBA and getting a feedback as to what is happening.

Your grounds are very compassionate and you need to word your letter such that UKBA would feel the pain reading your grievances.

Am sure your application would be processed quicker.

Regards
Ash

Just received all paperwork and passports back today. :D

Passports stamped 16 Feb.

That makes it only 13.5 weeks processing time.

Hi all,

I requested my passport due to emergency travel. Sent by HO on 27-02-2012 and received today by 2nd class recorded. Only 2days which isnt bad.

I hope my wifes passport comes soon as the wedding is approaching soon and everybody is leaving, leaving just me and my mrs.

Hard times

Hi i requested mine back 2 weeks ago. Even tho we hired a solicitor for my wifes case theres a possibilty we will receieve it before the wedding date. Hopefully. Life seems to be on hold at the moment. Dont know wat will we do if wifes doesnt come on time. It will be a life time regression :-(

Hi Everyone,

I have been following this forum for the last few days and wish to join the waiting list please.

Set (O) Work Permit + Tier 1
Applied 21/11/2011
Acknowledgement Received 22/11/2011
Fees Taken 28/11/2011

14 weeks and waiting...

I did send expedite letter to Croydon and then to Liverpool HO but no response. I also enquired a possibility of paying additional £400 and getting it converted to premium application but that was foolish. apparently you need to withdraw postal application without any refund and then take an appointment and pay £1350.

Thinking of writing to my MP.

Dear Sir or Madam

Home Office Ref: XXXXXXXX

I am writing to complain about the time the UKBA has taken to process my Indefinite Leave To Remain (SET X) application.

My passport has now been returned but the process has taken ** weeks from the date of receipt of the application and supporting paperwork.

I would appreciate an explanation why the Home Office/UKBA can process such a straight forward application in person same day, often with no more than twenty minutes effort and a couple of hours for the passport vignette to be applied yet keep postal applicants waiting for months.

Over the last few years the average processing times appear to have increased from approximately four weeks to sixteen to eighteen weeks. At the same time application fees have risen astronomically.

I accept some applications are more complicated than others and enquiries are required on occasions but this does not account for the difference in service standards detailed on your website.

If 90% of applications can be processed on the same day please explain why it is felt acceptable for 95% of, presumably similar, postal applications to take up to six months to be processed.

For many the extra costs and inconvenience involved in applying in person make it impractical.

The length of time for postal applications makes it difficult or impossible to find work because employers fear being fined for employing people not entitled to work. This can and does lead to significant hardship for many families.

Applicants are prevented from travelling abroad for significant periods and this can lead to hardship particularly as requesting the return of a passport in emergency leads to the application being 'withdrawn'. I feel this may contravene Council Directive 2003/109/EC of 25th November 2003 which confers the right to freedom of movement equally to non-EU nationals residing legally in the territory of an EU country.

All applicants have a right to be treated in a fair, considerate and timely manner which the Home Office is clearly failing to do at present. It is obvious to those of us unfortunate enough to have to deal with the UKBA that it is unfit for purpose, a situation that is only getting worse.

Why is it taking up to six months to complete applications that take minutes to process? What steps are being taken to improve the standards of service? Is it acceptable to use minimum standards as targets?

I am copying this letter of complaint to my Member Of Parliament and to the Immigration Minister.

I await your response with interest!

Yours faithfully

XXXXXXX

This is my first draft and I would appreciate feedback and corrections/amendments!
First of all thank you very much for such great effort. Can I please know if you have posted the draft letter to UKBA/MP
if you suggest I can ask the editor of 'Weekly edition' of 'Asian Voice' if he can help us to raise this issue by publishing it in the news paper.
Hope he will consider our request

Thank you
I think it would be a great idea.

My wife posted her application on 19th October 2011 and received acknowledgment 0n 21st October. This is for SET(M) and should be the most straightforward to process. I suspect ten minutes would do it! If someone would like to add her to the list I would appreciate it!

Her status and all the documentation is clear cut and there is no real room for a rejection.

We are still waiting!!
