I wrote to the LTR . .they just said keep your permission upto date.

My visa is on renewal this june .. am really confused .. is it they want me to renew my visa and then they wud give me the LTR ?

Btw i applied for LTR and citizenship mid - august

thanks

I know 1 guy whose LTR arrived as soon as he extends his visa. And then his citizenship arrives after 1 month of his LTR. So if your visa is going to expire soon then possibly they will wait for you to renew it.

They simply want to shed even the last penny out of your pocket before giving you the citizenship.

I know another guy who just got his citizenship and guess what... He got his LTR CERTIFICATE 1 day before his NATURALIZATION APPROVAL LETTER ( Yes You read it correctly 1 day before) it happens last week.

May be what you can do is to renew your visa if your LTR does not come by that time but then do not renew your Re-Entry visa because thats extra 100 euros and then once your LTR is approved then hopefully u will also get Citizenship. Good Luck....

Hi all, I have just joined this forum and have learnt quite a few things while going through the posts which is important for me as I intend to soon apply for naturalisation based on 5 years residence.

I have a query on '9.3 HAVE YOU BEEN IN RECEIPT OF A SOCIAL ASSISTANCE PAYMENT OR OTHER STATE SUPPORT IN THE PAST 3 YEARS' on the naturalisation application form. My wife, my son and myself had a GP visit card which expired in september 2010 but we didn't renewed it. Can anybody advise what should I answer for this question.

Many thanks.

I have the latest update:
I applied in October 2010.
I rang info service today. I was told that wetting report is missing in my file.
I was also told that they have received lots of garda reports back recently and they are logging reports into the files; possibly my report is among those reports they said.

I asked whether I would hear something before April ceremony, and I was told not quite possible but PROBABLY I would hear the result before next ceremony.

Be patient guys they are working they cannot complete everything over a night.

ok something to cheer about, but POSSIBLY/PROBABLY are the words that they should not use. They should tell us with certainity that yes your report will arrive in 2 weeks or something like this.

For my case for the last 2 months they are saying waiting for garda report. I am from May 2010......

Just talked with them. Same story still waiting for garda report.

When I asked why it takes too long to get garda report they say that its upto the Garda. Sometimes they send the report in 2 weeks or even it can come in 6 months :D

The requirement is legal residency in Ireland for 60months which is 5years. She could log on to the INIS.IE website and run through the residency calculator.

I will assume that she should be fine :)

All the best

Alan Shatter (Minister, Department of Justice, Equality and Defence; Dublin South, Fine Gael)

The Citizenship Division of the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service is currently processing over 16,000 applications for naturalisation. One year ago there was a backlog of approximately 22,000 applications awaiting decision. Since then, as a result of the measures I initiated to deal with the backlog, over 16,000 applications were dealt with in 2011; more than double the number finalised in 2010. This year to date I have made determinations on over 3,000 applications. I expect that the current backlog of standard cases will be cleared over the coming months with the 6 month average processing time for standard applications being reached by June 2012

http://www.kildarestreet.com/wrans/?id= ... -06.1411.0

Based on the above the minister should clear about 11,200 standard application (70% of 16,000) as he said previously in another statement that the standard application count for about 70%. Also he said in another statement that there are about 3500 complicated application from 2007 -2009.
I think another backlog will be created from the non standard application (16,000 – 11,200 = 4,800).
4,800 is still a very significant number!! :!: I do not know how the minister and INIS will tackle that!! :?:

I called for my LTR and they said to me this time that they are waiting for "Inter Departmental Report" when I ask is this the Garda report he said he do not know because it just says this.

For the previous 1 - 2 months I have always been told that they are waiting for Garda now saying inter departmental report for LTR.

Does anybody has any experience with this? This is the first time I have ever heard about such kind of report?

Any ideas what this report is?
