Biometric letter not received yet ....

Post by anon_uktier1 » Tue Mar 06, 2012 10:12 pm

I have applied for Tier 1 General extension on 19th Jan 2012. Most of them who have applied around the same time and a few after mine have already received the Biometric letter. I havent received it yet. I called UKBA and they said that the Biometric invitation letter has been generated on the 28th of Feb. I am a bit worried as its been quite sometime. How long does it usually take ?

Please find the details below ...

1. Current vignette: Tier 1 (General)
2. Date of expiry of current leave: 2 April 2012
3. Number of applicants: 1 (Main Applicant)
4. Date application posted: 19th Jan 2012
5. Date application received at UKBA: 20th Jan2012
6. Date payment debited: 24th Jan2012
7. Payment mode : Debit Card
8. Acknowledgement letter received: 27th Jan 2012
9. Biometric letter received: PENDING

Appreciate your help and time.

It normally comes through 2nd class mail. You must be anxious but I would say give it another week or so.

All the best

Check the timelines post to see how long it usually takes. Mine took more than 5 weeks to arrive and I applied the around the same time as you.

You could also check at your local post office. It takes 2-5 working days when sent via second class post.

Hi anon_uktier1

A very similar thing happened to me. After not recieving the Biometrics letter after about 7 weeks... I was continusly calling the Biometrics appointment number (who wouldnt deal with me until I had the letter), and the Home Office (who wouldnt deal with me until it had been 14 weeks).

Eventually, a letter arrived saying that I had failed to respond to the Biometrics appointment letter (which... obviously I never recieved), and I had 15 days to book my Biometrics appointment otherwise my application would be returned.

It was particually frustrating, because the 2nd letter was sent in the normal post (2nd class)... so I suppose it was just as likely to go missing like the 1st one did. Surely for the cost of £1000 (or soon to be £1500), they can at least organise an automated email service... Seriously, how hard could that be...!

Anyway, at least a 2nd letter may be on the way even in the 1st one goes missing.

Hi,
I talked to HO just now and mine was dispatched on 7 March, so fingers crossed.
If some one is curious, I called 0870 606.. option 4 and then did not choose option, it redirected me to hold the line. after about 7 mins I was put through to the rep.

Cheers
