Parking fine - worth mentioning in set(o)

Post by Keyrun » Sun Mar 11, 2012 10:18 pm

Hi,

I have been fined for parking on double yellow line in 2011 jan. Does it come under traffic offence, which I understand should be mentioned.

Thanks in advance

Regards, Kiran

Hi,

I do not think that this should be considered as criminal conviction, as it is just a parking fine.

thanks,
Anu

Thanks aanu23

I understand its not criminal conviction but do I still have to mention on the set(o) form ?

I have read few posts in here, most of them says its not required to mention but few of them says we have to. Not sure which one to follow?

Anymore information please.

thanks, Kiran

Just got hold of more information.

speeding or parking tickets are not required to be given in the set(o) form.

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/briti ... character/

We will carry out criminal record checks on all applications from people aged 10 and over.

You must also provide details of all civil proceedings which have resulted in a court order being made against you.

You must give details of all unspent criminal convictions. This includes road traffic offences but not fixed penalty notices (such as speeding or parking tickets) unless they were given in court. You must include all drink-driving offences. An explanation of unspent convictions is given below.

If you have an unspent conviction, your application for citizenship is unlikely to be successful. You should wait until the end of your rehabilitation period before applying.

A parking fine (fixed penalty notice) is not considered a criminal offence for ILR. i have had at least 12 parking fines in the last yr and still got my ILR approved last week :)
