Maintenance Letter vs Own Funds

I want my family to apply for tier 2 general dependants

I have both options , got letter from employer and bank statement (which has just few hundred more than required balance) as well. what you think guys , which one is best option to mark as maintenance ?

1 - Maintenance Letter
OR
2 - Own Funds

You can use either or both.
