Should I use Ukraine or Brit Lawyer to help gf student visa?

Post by gromans » Mon Mar 19, 2012 7:05 pm

Help Please javascript:emoticon('')

I am thinking of enlisting the help of a lawyer to assist with my girlfriends application for a student visa. She is a Ukraine National and I am British and sponsoring her.

I have spoken to Lawyers in the UK ( website ones) and Mila has spoken to Lawyers in the Ukraine and they both seem to think the process should be straight forward, however after reading many of the postings on here and elsewhere I am not so convinced and are sceptical that the Lawyers are just looking to take my money quickly!

Question, could anyone advise if it would be better to use a British lawyer ( from UK) or a Ukraine Lawyer ( Kiev) I presume the people that need convincing at the Embassy in Kiev are British? Could someone please enlighten me here?

Many thanks

Recommendation of services has already caused havoc and an endless arguments in the forum. So, I would strongly doubt anybody would do so and take a blame if, god forbid, the application has negative outcome.

Furthermore, you are not seeing any responses to your thread as you have started it in wrong section. This section of forum belongs to TIER 1 Migrants which are work visas. You might want to try starting another thread HERE

As per my knowledge, solicitors are in business to make money, and sometimes they do sugar-coat the matter. I genuinely do not see a reason why one needs solicitor if they have true intentions of coming to the UK and study. Bear in mind, UKBA needs "VALID" reasons to refuse you the entry, this is not a lottery system :)

Good Luck

Thanks Raxs

As you can see I am a newbie on here, I will post my message in the correct forum.

It is funny that you say that UKBA need "VALID" reasons to refuse entry, from my readings over the last few weeks on this site and others I am getting quite the opposite picture and its more like the UKBA need Valid reasons to "ALLOW" entry.

I might be a bit negative but because my gf has little income or ties to her own country so I suspect UKBA will try to force us into marriage, which is ridiculous imo.

Ah well, time will tell.

Cheers

Logically they work both the same :) I now, marginally understand the insistence on having the solicitor. There are plenty of them sure, however, I have never used a service of any so can not recommend anyone personally.
