I think your and my timings are almost the same. My wife will be collecting her passport tomorrow morning from New Delhi VFS office.

yeah right... it initially happened to me as well.. so i kept on trying and finally the website started showing msg that it will delivered on xyz date....

so dnt worry...

With regard to the Electoral Roll, as far as I know, citizens of countries that are part of the British Commonwealth are allowed to be on the electoral roll when living here. India is one of them. You need to contact the Electoral Services/Register part of your local council and once registered for about £15 they can give you a letter confirming you are on the Electoral Roll and for how long you have been on it at which address. We needed this proof when we appealed to prove we were both at the same address for several years.

Also you can get a letter from the Council Tax confirming who is living at the address, whether or not they are on the council tax bill (liable to pay) as the Council should know who is living there anyway, full time workers, students, house wives/husbands etc. They don't charge to issue this letter. We had to get one for our appeal.

Also, might be useful to get letters from your doctor confirming that you're both registered there at the same address and how long you have been there. And whether or not you've put each other as next of kin. We did this too for our appeal.

All helps. It's not just bills that will prove you were both at the same address as partners.

Good luck to you Baz... everything is crossed for you and your wife. I have also subbmiited from teh same office but I submitted on the dates below, so got a bit to wait unfortunatley.

Keep us posted and good luck. i read someone to track you use the passport number of the applicant. So Lucy is spot on....

hi navabath,

my wife wasn't called for an interview. i've asked HR also and i dont think they were contacted to confirm my employment so i'm not sure if thats the norm or if they ALWAYS follow up.

maybe someone else can confirm?

Hi

The checks are normally random or in some cases when the UKBA is slightly suspicious of the documents presented.

I was not contacted (I am self employed (company director)) and neither was my wife called up for an interview. A friend of mine had the same experience recently (no calls and no interviews).

So no worries, its just standard.

I called Mumbai BHC today and they said they have dispatched my passport via register post yesterday... Now eagerly waiting for it to confirm weather visa has been stamped or not? Fingers Crossed...

Hi Baz - Any news yet?

update:

having not been able to sleep all night, rang the mrs to find out if it had been delivered and blue dart said that the parcel is in the shipment that arrives from ahmedabad at 5-6 IST. which is around 1 o clock GMT.. they said she can either wait until the next delivery the next day or collect in evening...needless to say i said COLLECT TODAY IN EVENING!

will let you all know as soon as ive had some news....the waiting is agony!

the weird thing was i have just come back from india last weekend...it was our 1st year anniversary on march 7th so i went there for two weeks to break the time that we had been waiting for a response from BHC...the reason why it has taken us so long is because my wifes 20 and there was the 21 age law restriction until nov/dec last year....

she will be coming over alone next week if we get a response...once the response comes through i will publish the list of documents that i sent with the application for everyones reference if they need.
