Teaching Jobs

Post by src2206 » Sun Nov 05, 2006 6:29 am

Hi,
I am a resident of India and working as a Teacher in a Government run Secondary school [Class 5 to 12]. I have nearly 6 years of teaching experience. I teach Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics till Class 10 and Physics in Class 11 and 12. Educationally I have M.Sc. in Physics and mandatory qualification to become a teacher.

I am interested to take up teaching jobs in UK but I'm not really sure how to approach! Moreover is it possible to get a confirmed employment offer from a UK school before I apply for a Visa?

I would also like to know the current job situation in UK for Science teachers and the expected salary at the beginning.

I would highly appreciate if someone could guide me.

Thank you.

Hello,

Have a look at the General Teaching Council(England) for all the regulations:

http://www.gtce.org.uk/

http://www.gtce.org.uk/reg/obtaining_qts/020nonEEA

Information on qualifications and training routes for non-EEA nationals can be found here:

http://www.tda.gov.uk/Recruit/thetraini ... /ottp.aspx

Also, info on salaries:

http://www.tda.gov.uk/Recruit/lifeasateacher.aspx

For information on teaching in Scotland, check:

Science is a very good discipline to be in as there is a shortage of Science teachers, so you will be in a good place to find a job. I don't think you'll be able to secure a job without coming to the UK, mainly because schools interview teachers before making an offer. They will also want you to be GTCE/GTCS-registered or registrable, so you might want to check the formalities in advance.

Good luck,
Ariadne
