HSMP income tax return

Post by knigh7 » Mon Nov 13, 2006 11:43 am

Hi guys,

I'm redoing my application (i was going to send the old one on the 7th :( but they changed the rules)

I do not have an income tax return, i have been working in the UK on a work permit, and qualify for 25 points, all i have is my pay slips, is it normal NOT to have income tax returns??? i asked my boss he said i'm on PAYE????

Are we required to do income tax returns? I do not have any other income!

Thanks

Hi knigh7,

I am also trying to find out what document they are asking.
One of my assumption is P60 form that is issued every year which shows how much tax we have paid. I have sent an email to Work Permits team and waiting feedback about clarification this document.

Regards,

Gem

Hi,

I am also very interested in the answer to these questions, as I can prove either 40-45 points in past earnings, however my tax authority says I am uneligible to be accessed for the current tax year, how reasonable are they going to be, if we need to provide other proof such as bank statements etc. (proof they have mentioned in their guidance notes)

Unfortunately Gem, to be honest with you, I am not sure if you will get a proper home office reply, as they are very busy, and sent me an auto reply with common questions and answers, when I ask similar questions relating to income proof, however if you do, please let us know, I was thinking about phoning their customer number for more information, might have more luck with that

Regards
Avi

Hi Knigh7,

I am not going to apply right now, thinking about applying beginning of the next year.

Hi artcodex,

You are right they must be very busy nowadays due to changes.
I will let you guys know when I get reply.
As you have already stated, we cannot be assesed for this years tax since tax year ends April 07. Therefore past earnings will be partly covered by P60 (if this is the right document - TBC) and remaining should be supported by bank statements.

Gem

just spoke to the Home Office, they said that i should send in my P60 but since my p60 does not cover the entire duration and new salary (i got a raise) they also asked for a years worth of bank statements

Hi,

I was just wondering wether you had actually phoned the home office, or emailed through your query, because I also think I need to get a more direct answer from them, regarding my situation?

Hi Knigh7,

Thank you very much for your update. I have just got their standard reply today which is all the FAQ. I was planning to phone them but I have seen your message.

Thanks a lot again.

i've been working in the UK for 3 years. i will be applying for HSMP in jan 07 (switching from WP). i will be sending the following:

1- 12 months payslips Jan06 - Dec06
2- P60 (shows jan -april06)
3- bank statements for jan 06-dec06. i'm missing one month (i think april or may). should i ask for these from my bank?

thanks

yes you can ask your bank for statements, i do not have any of then so i asked natwest to get me 13 months worth of statements also for your pay slips i think you have to make sure they are signed and stamped by your employer... correct me if i'm wrong on this one guys.

also a letter from your employer stating the salary you made in the 12 months would be helpful

This is not required. The appointment/offer letter does state your salary p.a.
