I got married February 2008. And before that was on Student visa with my partner so HO has counted the year spend as a Student with my wife in the 5 year eligibility time.

Anyone else in the same situation should apply I suppose to save an extra year waiting for PR.

hi cutebearl,is really good news for everybody in this forum,i gess all of us had life with their wife before marriage.
could you give us which documents and how many you supply for HO as prof of cohabitation before day of your wedding.

does anyone know what happens after you have requested your passport back for travel? Will they request it back to apply the new visa?

not necessary, as they can just issue a visa on the A4 paper, I had my RC on A4, even now I still haven't put it on my passport and I was always travelling like that.

Hi Spike, how much of a pain was that (I mean carrying the A4 paper with you)?

Hi EUsmileWEallsmile, I obviously had to carry it in my passport whenever I was travelling, but never was bothered to transfer it to passport.

I provided statement from bank but I was missing the first 4 months of the 5 year timeline so a friends statement did the job. I think only 3 statements before marriage. That was it.

No they didn't ask for anything extra. We have been together for 5 years in total. PR was issued without hassle.

Hi cutepearl, I meant you don't have to wait 12 month period of PR,,,you can apply for BC based on 6 yrs relation and demonstrate same evidence that you used for PR.

I would wait for 12 months past the PR sticker date for two reasons:

1. The fact that the your time before marriage was recognised by the European Cases team for the PR application, doesn't mean that the nationality team will have the same view when applying for BC. For a £850 application, I'm not sure it is worth the risk (although small).

2. Better to make the application simple and straightforward. You don't want the HO taking more time to get to a decision because they need first to establish your PR based on the evidence you provide.

PR applications take 2-3 months so if you apply close to the 5 years end, you wont delay your naturalisation application by much if apply 12 months after PR.

I won't apply on 6 year basis. I will apply on 6th March next year 28 days before and that would be it. I need to provide only this years proofs and 5 year travel history that's it.

28 days earlier doesn't apply for Citizenship application (only for ILR),you have to apply on 3 April.

Hi guys, i just want to ask something,,,, because I didnt get my COA on time I called HO and they printed me another one! so now I have received both one of them is dated 15/03/2012 and the other one 10/04/2012
Does this have an effect on the delay of my EEA4 process?
Thanks.

Should not affect the application as it is dealt by a different department.

Thanks Jambo, do you have any idea how long after COA been issued the application would be assigned to a case worker?

Could be the next day or 5 months later. No idea. In any case, it doesn't matter when it is allocated to a CW but when he actually looks at it and that depends on their workload.

As your RC is still valid, my advice is to expect the PR after 6 months. This way you will be happy if it arrives early :)

Following others timelines can sometimes be depressing.

Well working the way backwards - 3 weeks visa + 10 days for the HO to return the passport (did you provide a special delivery envelope with the application? That might speeds this up) + 2 weeks buffer just in case something goes wrong = beginning of May. I would not wait longer than that.

I would assume making the holiday is more important than the HO confirming your status.
