HSMP Tier 1 Genaral Visa Query urgent

1)I am having HSMP Tier 1 general visa now...if i apply for Tier2 visa does my Tier1 willbe affected....do we have any rule we should hold only one visa at a time..Please suggest.....?

2)If my Tier2 visa is rejected,still my Tier1 visa is valid ...?
