And how do you know this is not how the HO operates?

Maybe it is. Maybe it is not. No one knows.
True but the fact of the matter is people have received their EEa quite smoothly after around 3 months (on average) till something happened that is delaying it.

The logical assumption is something other than the xmas periods are delaying applications but it is all just assumptions for now
Maybe Easter? We had two Bank Holidays..

True I suppose we will never know what really happened because they are so reluctant to give any info

its a broken system than needs overhaul in my opinion.

Yes having an online solution might not deter people from calling but its a vast improvement over the current system

Some communication is always better than no communication

we still have not heard back from HO. Not even a COA! our solicitor has just sent them a second letter on 12/04/2012. They have not replied at all.

we have been waiting so long for the COA but have no news! has this happened to anyone before? Do you think it is bad news or maybe they will send the R.C without a COA?

I think they need to reply within 6 months from the time they receive the application.

Is there anything we can do?
Thanks! 8)

The same happened to us- look at our timeline below. The COA was sent in April, whereas it was dated 12 January. I reckon it was misplaced somewhere before posting it.

Thats exactly what I mean, the amount of times people get back dated documents must raise some eyebrows there right

its happening far too many times to just be someone misplacing it

It's good to know that we are not the only ones! Have you chased things up with them to see where your COA was or did you just leave it?

We have sent a second letter already and have our fingers crossed for a reply!

This is probably a silly question, but can someone please tell me what POST is, as a body within UKBA?

I have seen the abbreviation used in HO guidance for its case workers, but without an explanation what it stands for.

Our application was made in mid Dec, and supposedly a letter was sent to us in the very first days of April - not received anything yet though... Before that, our case was passed on to 'Euro POST' (or so) in mid March, according to phone information, hence my question what POST means.
Thanks

As far as I know, once you get COA, it means your case was assigned to a case worker. You can check the letter and there is a case number and it's signed by a case worker too.
Thx CoolGirl1984,My COA got case ID

@ Goodies, you should read what's posted to find answers, I indicated something about that in my post.

In the meantime, I found out what Post means by using more abstract search terms in google (as in visa issuing post, or entry clearance post). It is a bit of a strange term.

pretty much all the december applicants on this forum have their application under consideration for quite some time

it gives no peace of mind because its been like that for 3 weeks or so

its getting harder and harder to stay hopeful when Ive got a holiday booked in June

to be honest I was hoping people would have received their RC by now

but on top of application writiin to send documents to DEPT 110 not DEPT45.
I am not sure Lawyer put wright address or not.

Finally..Our complete timeline...
Application sent- 13th Oct 2011
Application received in Liverpool- 14th Oct 2011
COA received- 7th Nov 2011
Permit received- 20th Apr 2012
Permit issued- 7th Dec 2011
After several emails since Jan 2012 they finally investigated our application and the case worker foned Ali personally to inform him his application had been approved and that the permit had been sent to the wrong place!! We returned his passport to them on the 12th Apr and it came back on the 20th Apr with the permit inside...Not convinced about the response...I think his application had been misplaced and that our emails alerted them that there must be a problem...I think also having Ali's passport returned for travel might have had something to do with the mixup...
For those of you out there who have been waiting over 4ish months send emails to them and ensure you enclude the ref number on the COA, they may not always respond but they do receive them and Investigate if they think there has been an unnecessary delay...Also try not to include an excess of documents unless it is needed..If your application is straight forward and you are married you only need two passport fotos, your marriage cert, applicants passport and the eea nationals passport, confirmation of eea nationals employment, either payslips, letter from employer or a contract...Again if your application isn't straight forward you must enclude all other documents that are necessary for your individual application...Try to be patient but use email if necessary and good luck to everyone out there.
