I-864 question

Post by FresnoGirl » Mon Nov 20, 2006 12:18 am

Hello!

A friend of mine is trying to adjust status, but her husband is in college and doesn't make much money at all.

They need a joint sponsor.

His father is willing to be joint sponsor, and he has plenty of income/properties to do it.

BUT his wife (step-mother to my friend's husband) doesn't want to be a joint sponsor.

If the Father-in-law files his taxes together with his wife. Is it necessary for her to sign too? He's willing to do it with or without his wife's authorization, but they would like to know if it is legal, as their tax papers are filed together.

Thank you very much!
