I sent an email April 6th asking for our passports to be returned for emergency travel and I have received neither a reply nor our passports. I'm nervous because other people mentioned getting their passports very quickly...

Could it be that I requested it too soon? Or that my partner's visa expired beginning of April? (We married on 1 MAR 2012 so he is still legally allowed to be here)

Sorry, my misunderstanding... I'm getting a bit impatient, thinking about it everyday. But don't want to start panicking not to upset my fiancé..

NO updates mates, another sad waiting day gone, i don't know what is happening ? some where it got struck no one is getting RC since begining of this month(April), my time line is around 4 and half month, still no good news, last week i sent and email, got the same response as many got "your application is still under consideration" don't know what it means, in my opinion i guess they are holding asian and african passports for long, though you submit all required documents, though they issue RC still they are not sending it back to applicants, i don't know what is the reason behind it.
what else we can do except waiting, by now i got used to and give up chasing ........best of luck to every one who is waiting

As per my observation you will receive RC first from the December applicants.

I called the European enquiries section again, because nothing received yet. Today, someone said that the letter is still in the dispatch department, it must be there since 1st week of April. Just sitting there, 3 weeks already...... and no timelines as to when it could be dispatched. How can they do that to people, it's simply unnecessary at that stage -when they know how tormented everyone is after so many months of uncertainty.
Or may be Athik is right, that they deliberately withhold for some groups.

In my experience, there are unhelpful and helpful people at the UKBA, some completely reject to even look into the reference, some look it up to see into the status of an application. The first type always refers to that they can't give any information. I wonder if there are any rules at all because it always depends on people... Today, I had both types, so I just tried to call again, and the second person was fortunately super friendly.

yes thats right im african and my passport always gets "extra" attention

It should be a straight forward case but I just dont know whats taking so long

I also dont understand why the home office cant be transparent o what these delays are, my gut tells me its because they dont want people to give them fake documents but that still isnt a good enough reason

I'm wondering whether it has any connection to Olympics in UK this year. I think that they are making extra effort and extra checks on everyone, so it might delay everything to ensure that no terrorists or any other thread are in UK.

But it's just my opinion :)

EEA2 Application Sent: 29 Dec 2011
Passports requested: 11 Feb 2012
Passports received: 18 Feb 2012
COA Received: 18 Feb 2012
RC Received: 24 Apl 2012

The long wait is over!

BTW I also travelled while awaiting my RC - just showed COA at the boarder with passport no problems - gave me a 6 month extention stamp.

I received a RC document (an an A4 sheet of paper) - not a stamp in my passport.

Good luck everyone else!!

Hiya KiwiJ, it is nice to know yours took less than 4 months, means there is hope for us :D, especially the fact that your coa took close to 2 months!!

Did you ring them about update of your application during this time? I am waiting for my application to reach 3months and i will ring them about my application.

I'm wondering if the application would have been resolved quicker if the passports had been sent in with it.....

I applied on the 13th Feb (HO received on the 14th Feb).

So far I have not received the COA or any communication.

On the 10th april, I (we) phoned HO requesting my wife's passport as she needs to travel (for work planned since more than 6 months ago) by the end of april. On the 19th April we made as the passport never arrived, she was told that the request was not authorised. On the same day she requested by phone (and fax) the passport with a matter of urgency. Until, today this hasn't arrived yet.

Any feedback on this guys?

Btw, apparently the COA was issued (or posted) on the 12th April but I haven't received it yet. The have (apparently) posted again but I haven't received it yet.

Why everytime I phone (or my wife phones) they say very different things? Then we asked they get annoyed but I wouldn't ask if they actually be consistent with the information they give.

Cheers
