Switching from HSMP to WP - (EXTENSION issue)

Post by lbfrancois » Thu Nov 23, 2006 11:08 am

Hi,

I've been working in Uk under HSMP for eight months now, but I can't achieve 75 points for the extension (I'm 5 points short - no academic skills).

I'm thinking about changing my HSMP to WP. I read on the HSMP guidance that new transitional rules have been put in place for HSMP holder to switch to WP. But it's not very clear what the process would be...

What would my employer need to do??

As I have HSMP, it means that I have an approved IED, doesnt it? So the only thing I need to do is fill out FLR(IED) extension form and send it along with my supporting documents??

Can a WP Dependent work as well?

Thanks!
Lu.

Hi Lu,

Before your HSMP visa expires, your company needs to file for a work permit. As soon as it is issued, then that is the time you fill up the FLR (IED) form and submit it together with the work permit as proof that you are legally working in the UK - this is what I can understand from the guidelines.

I guess we're on the same boat...
