I don't think this is quite right... I went though NCS and it took 11 weeks. I think the timelines are completely random and probably correlate to piles of cases on individuals desks... and then how many get stacked on top of older ones... and then if that person is off sick/on leave etc... (I work in gvt department - I can imagine this is similar everywhere...) - of course the crappy thing is that with such high fees, you'd kind of expect better service... and no understaffing....

Maybe your attitude is the problem? they get calls all day long you have to make your call more interesting than the others
Lol, no my attitude was ok, especially as I was talking to another government department from my work phone with my manager standing beside me. The woman at UKBA was really nice at answering my other questions just she was reluctant to give out any info about my husbands particular case quoting the 6 month rule.
I see your in Brighton Grantring..me too, I am a pure Brightonian. One of the best cities in UK in my opinion.

For those that have problems with post or worry an approval has gone out and not arrived but are getting no joy getting answers from UKBA, then pop your local council citizenship department an email every few weeks or so and check up if they have recieved anything, citing post problems as the reason for emailing.
Our Citizenship department here in Brighton is more than happy for you to do this especially so as more and more towns/cities have a postal system that often delivers really late. Often postmen deliver after trades buttons in flats have gone off and if no one is home they cant get in. Just this afternoon I saw our postie delivering mail at 4.30pm which is probably the latest I have ever seen him out on his rounds.

just wondering, do the UKBA have an official policy of non-disclosing information on the status of applicants under 6 months?

If it says so on their website, is it considered an official policy?

All you need to do is get them off their guard talk about the weather of the number of applications at the moment poor pay the government should give them more help. then slip in do you think it will be much longer you wont get a full answer just a little info but add all the little info together it gives you a picture but as you can see from the time lines posted 3 months is the average

I see in Brighton they only do the ceremony once a month so just trying to get the cost of a private one as the once a month might not fit into the time line well if one has just passed once you get approval

Yes they just do once a month for some reason.
I believe the private one is around the £90 mark.
If anyone plans to do NCS via Brighton and Hove City Council they are not doing the NCS as the member of staff has left and they are awaiting a new staff member being trained up by UKBA.

Just out of curiousity - looking at the passport application timeline - How can you tell when your passport was submitted for printing or date of issue- Is it written on the passport.

I tracked mine using the online tracking system , received an email from them a few hours later stating the date they received the application and the date it was approved and issued

Yes i called them again . they said application was going to through another examination process as could have been something raised from the interview - i thought they had done that before issuing an interview letter and returning my supporting documents -
such a long winded process

What happens if one does not have a successful first passport interview. I can only assume this the case if my case has been referred for further examination checks (whatever that means) or did i choose to attend a dogdy passport interview centre ( i dont trust all these people). In all the questions asked i know i got about three wrong cause i couldnt remember the answers. .

going by the Naturalisation timeline - you should expect to hear from them in about 2 to 3 months - have you received an acknowledgement yet.

When was your interview ? Did you get an update from IPS ? Normally if your interview is OK then your passport gets printed on the same day or the next day
