Advice needed - BRP(RC) - what happens if you withrdaw appl?

Hi there,

I applied for a Name Change on my BRP card by filling in the BRP(RC) form and submitted it to the Home office on 21st Jan 2012. I then did my biometrics on 28th Feb 2012. It's 27th April today and I still haven't received my documents yet. When I applied for Name Change, based on the information published then, I was almost sure that I would receive my documents within 3 months of my application. So I went ahead with the process. Now I need to extend my visa and need my passport back so that I can apply in person. I am very close to withdrawing my Name change application as it has taken way too long to process. 3 months up and I am still waiting to get my documents back. I have to extend my visa before June. So my question is if I retracted my Name Change application what impact would it have on my visa extension, if I chose to go for PEO rather than postal application?

Any suggestions would greatly help.
