Timelines for Tier 4 visa

I applied for Tier 4 visa on 23 april 2012. How long does it take to get the visa? haven't heard anything from the VFS people since till now. Can people share their timelines for receiving visa or any updates from VFS. Thanks.

Now I'm eagerly expecting next message!! (every 1 hr, I'm checking status!!!)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed as my start date is 1st May and I'm joining PhD in telecommunication. I wonder whether I will be able to report to the Univ on said date. Anyway I will be sending a requisition on 30th April to the Univ authorities citing visa delay.

Anyone, kindly let me know how long it would take to receive the visa. In UKBA website it is said 10-15 days. But I'm under a dilemma whether it may extend beyond 15 days. Now, my application has crossed 10 working days.

Kindly advise.

UKBA time is 10-15 day minimum to 3 months maximum.

Plus above time limit is standard for about 95% applications and you should not contact them within this time limit as it is usual. Application can be delayed more but you can contact them after standard limit cross.

I will await a response from UKBA then. Now that 4th May is the 15th working day, I have to see whether the status changes.

msathdyath did you apply for visa inside UK ??? if yes how can you check your status ?

Furqan, I applied for visa in Chennai, India.

Try following link to check status: http://www.vfs-uk-in.com/additionalservice.html

Click "Track your application". It will open in a new window wherein you have to input your application reference number and date of birth. You will see you status thereafter.

[b]msathyadh[/b] did you get the visa? I applied on 23 April and my application is still under process. I had a similar issue as yours as my joining date was 1 May but uni extended it to 1 June.

Dear All,

I received my visa today 2nd May. Hurriedly tore open the bag and checked for the stamp. It was stamped prettily!

Applied on 16th April
Granted Tier 4 visa on 2nd May

Have planned to leave in another couple of weeks.

I haven't taken any help from consultancies (right from identifying course, admission, visa, etc.) as the application process is quite simple and self-explanatory. FYI, I'm joining PhD in Telecommunications. Moreover, forums help a lot too, I would say.
