HSMP or Work Permit

Post by fardeens » Mon Nov 27, 2006 4:44 pm

I am currently on a work permit, which was granted to me for 5 years and so is the LTR. I have been on it for 6 months or so. Now with the new HSMP point system, if I apply before first week of Jan 07 I get the required score of 75 points.

Now my question is it better going through the HSMP way or stay in my work permit and stay put.

Also, can overtime payments on the salary slip be included in the past earning?

Many thanks in advance

I am not an expert in this but I am also considering both WP and HSMP.

Which sector and what nature is your job?

From what I have gathered, if you have 5 years LTR, it is better for you to stick to it, provided that you are not preparing to quit your jobs.

One of the reason is: HSMP will give you 2 years of LTR, then you need to apply HSMP again. If the policy changes, you might be in a very bad position and have to apply for a WP (however maybe without the advertising requirement)

But again, it all depends on your current job and your future plan.
