Point for earnings question - Tier 1 general extension

I made an application for Tier-1 General on 10th Feb 2010
When applying i had requested the validity of the visa to start from 14th Apr 2010 since I knew I wouldnt be travelling right away.
So my visa is valid from 14th Apr 2010 - 13th Apr 2013

On 6th Apr 2010, the earnings rule have changed. Originally when I applied i got 40 points for earning equivalent to £37500. In the new rule, an earning of £37500 will give you only 20 points.

Please note that even though the rules changed on 6th April 2010, since I had made the first application on 10th Feb 2010, i was given 40 points for that earning.

Now, I am applying for renewal in January 2012. Will i get 40 points or 20 points for £37,500 now. I am assuming that since the rules are dependent on when i made the first application, i should still get 40 points.

Any thoughts ?

Your understanding is correct. - old table will be applicable to you.
To confirm use Points calculator.

I think you will be applying in Jan 13 and not Jan 12

That's the only date that's relevant and you should work on the basis of .... and calculate your points accordingly.
