FLR(M) request documents back or wait it out?

I don't if anyway can answer this, but...

I applied for FLR(M) (which was six days out of time) on February 28th and enrolled my biometrics on March 26th. I found out today that I need to return home to U.S. for an urgent family matter. I thought about requesting my documents to be returned but read that it can take 15 working days. Am I better off just waiting to see if my visa is approved and returned in the next three weeks? Another poster said the UKBA helpline said 75% of FLR(M) applications are being processing in 4-6 weeks after biometrics and since it has been 61/2 weeks since I did mine, I would HOPE that it's going to be done soon.

Any advice would be welcome, thanks
