I got a job offer but they said if I don't have my visa within the next week they will have to consider someone else, I applied on the 20th of Feb (SET (M) also), but I've heard from my MP that my file has not even been passed to a caseworker yet. I really like this job, and really need it. So any advice will be highly appreaciated.
Hi there - I only have contact with the person who actually did my application for me. I paid them to submit it for me, so they are like an agency type thing. I can't track it through them, they can only give me the same info your MP gave you - whatever is showing on the system at the time. I don't have an actual number for the home office or anything. I also tried calling the Home Office for an update and also just had the call "terminated" at the end of a very long and expensive wait. Somewhere on this forum is the number for employers to call to make sure you still have the legal right to work in this country while your application is being considered - have you tried to give your employer that? If they are in any way reasonable they will allow you to work while you wait for your visa, which should not be denied if all your ducks are in a row and you're legally here, which sounds like you are! Good luck, i hope it arrives soon - it is frustrating when it affects your career / money etc!!

Yeah I tried the employer number as well.
I actually have 2 job offers, but the one that I want is the one that based on company policy they can not hire with an expired visa.

To other job is all right but means I would have to rellocate which I am not looking foward to it. And yeah, it really sucks that it will affect my carreer opportunities, how can they not understand this.

Hi oRafi! I think with the settlement checking service, it doesn't make the wait any shorter, but it did give me that link between myself and my visa application, which really puts my mind at ease. You applied on the 28th Feb, a day after me, and as i understand, we applied JUST before the biometric route was put in place, so don't worry about that aspect as we don't have to deal with it at the moment. When i applied they told me the standard time they have experience for applications is 12 weeks all-in-all from application to receiving the visa. When i called a month and a half later to check on progress, she said my target date (I think this might just be the date for the decision to be made?) was the end of April. So - she said i should hear something by May. (But i haven't yet). She said that it could take up to 16 weeks, but that because mine is a standard, very straightforward SETM, it shouldn't take that long. Currently, you and I are only at 10 /11 weeks, which i like to think is kind of the end now. I am expecting my visa any day now. I have a flight booked to visit my family on the 2nd of june (Haven't seen them in 3 years now!) so in the same boat - every single day counts!! I have a good feeling about it and i think these passports will arrive soon. I will get an update on mine today - and then I'll drop you a message so you can kind of get a feeling of the situation... she said she would update me by lunchtime, so i will definitely keep you in the loop! Don't stress at the moment, I'd say give it one more week before you lose the will to live ;) It'll be fine, remember - there have been afew delays in the departments and yesterday was a strike, and we also have to take into account the bank holiday... I'll be back on here later with an update x
Thanks ever so much for that reply Skirty! you are my favourite person in the world right now :) I also have a holiday booked from the 2nd of June as well (that means 13 weeks in total is the deadline)... a lot of us are going together and the thought of not being able to go is devastating! your reply has lifted my mood for the day :) thanks so much again! I look forward to some good news. please keep me posted.

hi everyone
so today i called border agency and well the one positive is my case has gone from 'no deciision' to being 'processed' the lady on the phone hinted that it should be dispatched within the next few days.. so then its up to royal mail. find it unacceptable that they have had my application from the 24th Oct and they only decide to look at it now.. better late than never i guess
hopefully i will get it in the next week or so
also i waited 25mins before they answered the phone

Re: UKBA times changed?

Skirty wrote:I've just realised that the UKBA times now state that they aim to process 95% of settlement applications within 12 weeks and the remaining 5% within 24 weeks. If I'm not mistaken, it never used to state 12 weeks? I think it was abit longer last time i checked? but i might be totally mistaken. Anyway, good to know as I've got 3 more weeks to wait then, if that's right.

Heres the link anyway:

I think UKBA has two different resource for the waiting time, which I noticed before, and the one you mentioned above is misleading. Please see the following link for the right resource:

Hello,

Hi guys! I applied on 1st March (yes, biometrics route for me) and reading your post has given me some hope that I just might, might get my passport back soon too. I too have a trip booked for 7th June and *fingers crossed* I'll be going on that trip. Would you be as so kind to keep me posted on your status? I rec'd my biometrics letter on 26th March and had it done on the 30th March and mine's a super straightfoward Set(M) application too. Just the stress of it all!! x

ILR SET(O) APPLIED 1ST NOVEMBER -STILL NO RESULT

Post by OCT1STILRSETO » Mon May 14, 2012 8:50 am

Hi All,

Thanks to workpermit.com - this forum been very very supportive and helpful.

Here are my time lines
Application type - SET(O) - WP(1yr)+HSMP(2YRS)+TIER1(2YRS).
Application sent - 1 October 2011
Time since I sent application - 27weeks and 5 days / 6 months 13 days.

During last week called UKBA - 2 times - both times same response - Applicant have to continue waiting - there is no maximum time limit to process applications ( could not understand this at all).

Current tier1 visa - going to expire in about 4 months time - if UKBA further delay my ILR application - I might not have enough time to apply for Tier1 extension.

Here in UK with Family -in worst case scenario - if I need to leave from UK permanently - I need at lest 3 months time to settle down with everything (HOME, FAMILY,CAR, JOB).

I am getting very very sick - thinking about this situation - tel me this - on which thing should I concentrate - my day to day JOB or this visa thing - finally I gone sick ( we are not here for this kind of treatment - why they call High valued migrates)

Why UKBA not understanding this - neither they wont decide on application even after 6 months / nor they say tentative timelines.

Can some one suggest me - how can I expedite my application processing and request them to take some decision.

Thanks in advance.

this means it can take indefinite time to decide your application. it could even be 10 - 20 years. lol

ILR Set (O) Timeline

Post by cagedkiwi » Mon May 14, 2012 12:42 pm

Hi there,
a friend passed on this forum to me - I was so grateful and only wish I had known of it earlier! It has provided lots of help and a small insight into the mysterious workings of the UKBA machine! So thanks to all who have contributed so far.

Applied for ILR SET(O)
Document sent 22nd March 2012
Document received 23rd March 2012
Ack letter dated 26th March 2012 (received 29th March 2012)
Payment taken (cheque) 29th March 2012
I have been waiting 7 weeks and counting..

I have rung twice in the past 10 days and my application is still not on their system yet so they can offer me no information as to what is happening with it. This is apparently also why I have not been sent a letter to get my biometrics done. I'm confused as I'm not sure how they can issue me with a reference number and a confirmation letter, yet I am not on their system - do they have two systems then that hold information but don't actually talk to each other? If anyone knows how the process works, please let me know as it's frustrating not knowing if my application is stuck in a black hole somewhere or just waiting in a pile along with a gizillion others.. thanks!

Glad I'm remembered! Still waiting .. same response when I contact UKBA ... 'your application is not completed' - no time frames given, not a shred of any other information... just keep waiting.

So I'm getting on with my life and hoping it will come in the post one of these days. I'm not very active on the forum as I used to be but am still a silent follower.

I wish everyone on this forum the best and hope you all have a short wait for your passports.
