Hi all. I just want to ask, can we send an e-mail to this address to inquire about the progress of our application or they only deal with those who request for their passport to be sent back? Thanks

If it's under the 6 month time frame, you're generally not going to be told much anyway. You're better off calling.

Yes, Yesterday I sent email to Home Office and the repose is

"Please be advised that the UKBA are currently involved in ‘Industrial Action’, today, (10 May). However, I can inform you that your documents are currently held within our despatch department."

Do you have any similar experience and how long it will takes to get my RC? (I had attached Special Delivery "Next day delivery" envelop with my application?)

How do manage to get them to answer your emails? I always get the "Please be advised that this office does not provide application progress reports, as this diverts resources away from the case working process." when I email them, i sent it to
liverpoolEuro.PassportReturns@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk

Hi all, it is not just Decemeber applicants waiting for ages, same for the January ones.

My timeline so far:
Submitted: 10.Jan.2012
HO received: 11.Jan.2012
COA received: 06.Feb.2012 (issue date: 02.Feb.2012)

I wrote to [liverpoolEuro.PassportReturns@ukba.gsi.gov.uk] twice to inquire. Both time they replied the second day. The first time I was told not to inquire as this diverts resource from case working and the second time (today) I was told I have been only waiting for 4 months and there are 2 more months to go.

Well at least they replied.

as a side note to those who received the "industrial action" response... that would only matter if people had a particular arrangement on that particular day, how can they use that excuse in any way or form is beyond me.

It's a 6 month long application, 1 industrial action day or a bank holiday wouldn't make a bloody difference now, would it. Unless you were expecting and were promised a response on that day and didn't get it because of the industrial action, I don't see that as an excuse for the delay people are experiencing, no COAs etc. no transparency and so on, no cohesion... their slogan should be: "Incompetence- as standard" (signed) UKBA.

I sent them 4 emails in 2 days and they replied to 2, saying that my request has been forwarded to the team dealing with my application.

Hi zahirsona, hope you get reply soon. It is weekend and I guess you will get reply tomorrow.

Hi aluter, when you write email what do you say? For me the first time I asked about progress and was told not to inquire as it diverts resource. The second time I mentioned I applied 4 months ago and should get it through by now. So they say they have 6 months to work on it and I still have 2 months to wait. Maybe I asked in a wrong way?

Basically you will need to wait for your decision to be made. As long as the passport was valid when you applied, it won't affect the decision.
