@sk2912: You should email the VFS office at Chennai and inquire about your visa application. My status changed on the next working day from "documents submitted" to "Under Process"
@wAliMeer : i was called for another round of biometrics on April 25th , it implies that they have taken the application but not changed the status; donno why ...
As u said i will try mailing the vfs office

Hi,
My niece collected the visa valid for 27months however my name(sponsor for my wife) is misspelt on the visa sticker (i instead of t only one letter), which she could not see at the time of collection.
Do you think it may create any problem at LHR or in future? All other details are correct including all my wife's personal details.
I have already booked the tickets for 28th May. Any idea how much time the BHC will take to correct this.

Any suggesttions welcome and appreciated.
Thanks.

I hope it will be a good news but will know only when my niece collects on Thursday if the status changes to "Ready for collection".
Since it's delhi I expect it to change by tomorrow.

I will keep you guys posted. Pazpatel, Kelvian, Deena and all who are end of feb and beginning of march should hear by end of this week ( I hope).
Thanks and this forum is great. Again you guys will hear any updates from my side as soon as it changes.
I also feel that this week should be more active than last two weeks and am with Pazpatel on this.
Thanks[/quote]

That's brilliant news...... Everything is crossed for you. Keep us posted, I think you should be ready for collection tomorrow..... All crossed for you. Are you counting the working days from under process date and taking away the bank holidays?

Hi Dani,
I think you are safe and it will not be a problem as its your name and not your spouse's.
There was a person back in 2004 who posted a similar issue on this board under UK tier 1 visa and he/she said that they have contacted the BHC and was told that its ok and its not going to be a problem. However people often think that it will give some problems while applying for any other documents like NI number or Driving license or Jobs but I dont think that will be an issue because they take the name on Passport and not on the Visa/EC itself. So I think you are safe if its just a word misspelled but if you want to be safe about it i suggest you contact BHC.

Settlement Visa Applied for my wife on 27th March 2012

Post by Srinibondugula » Sat May 19, 2012 9:54 pm

Date Applied : 27/03/2012
Status : Under process at BHC

Still waiting for the result? I believe due to Olympics and cost hike, the flow of applications has increased in the Month of march which is causing delay.

Thanks Guys.

I hope that is the reason but they should have prepared themselves for more applications for Olympics. I hope everyone awaiting the visa gets it soon :)

Nothing yet unfortunatley but I have a strong feeling tomorrow or Tuesday it will change. About a month ago my best friend said to me Tuesday 22nd is the day.... So lets hope he is right, he's never let me down till now.....

I think the Olympics might be making a difference as in Jan and Feb people where hearing in about 6-7 weeks and slowed down a little, but since last week on this forum and away from this forum a lot of people are hearing, someone who I met through facebook applied in Mumbai on 11th March (5 days after mine) and she got a dispatched text on Friday so she will get her passport tomorrow via bluedart.... So I think they sending out a big batch at the moment....

All crossed for all of us.

I have heard in the past a few people have had this problem, and they have not ever had any problems, I would worry if it was first name but its not, just get her to carry some ID and also to carry something of yours, like she must have copies of your passport still right from the application for VISA, just get her to carry that in hand language tobe on safe side.

Also for re assurance on the British High Commission website in India there is a number for India, you can always try contact them to double check your self....

When she flying mate?

@Lucy - I might go for BA as only they have direct flight from Hyd. I need to think of some ideas when i receive her at airport.

@Paz- Thanks a TON for your wishes

@wAliMeer - UKBA usually releases the processing times every 3months and it just gives some indication to us about the time.

I and my wife are from Hyd and she applied at Hyd and previous data by UKBA stated Hyd applications for settlement were processed bit quickly i think 20% decisions were made in 7days and 40% in 30 days.

As you applied in Apr, i sincerely hope you get it soon by next month

That means that they must have processed every application they have received in March or at least from Hyderabad otherwise they would not have put up any statistics on their website.
Kalvain - I know BA is expensive but good shout, is it her first time flying? If so with them she will be comfortable at least, they operate a good flight. Does Air India not fly direct from there?

Also you booked flights yet? When you looking to get her over....?

Thanks for the wishes to, fingers crossed I do hear next week,..... Also make sure she is ready for the questions she will get asked at UK side, there is page somewhere on this site for that..... I think Lucy might know where it is....

Thanks for the wises. I got married in the month of March and I applied for settlement for my spouse on 27/03

I was expecting an outcome by end of next week but it looks like its most unlikely to happen.

Same here Sri, I got married in march but i applied on April 12. The next batch that will go out will be ours hopefully. I was expecting an outcome by then too seeing that people who applied in Feb got their visas quickly(most of them) but there seem to be a delay :(. I hope they sort it out Quickly..

He applied on 16th March but his was dependency VISA so they tend to be quicker anyway. I know someone who applied for Dependency and he got it in 14 days. Settlement is longer up to 3 months

@Paras - Dont worry, you might get it tomorrow

My wife got text around 16:45 IST, so i guess we have to assume if we don't hear by 5PM India time might get message next day

Bought BA for this Sunday, bit expensive though. But i think its worth as they allow 2 bags of 23kgs for check in and direct flight for someone traveling 1st time and its 2days before my bday

@wAli - I hope you might hear by end of this month

@Lucy - will have to be creative and do something as i am doing 24hr shift the day after collecting my wife

Best wishes for all others.

Kind Note - just seen in news UKBA placed India in High risk category for TB, so everyone from July will need TB clearance while applying in India, as they are closing down Xray screening at airports due to cost cutting from July (Its Hindustan Times article, so better to cross check UKBA site)
