NARIC error

Post by Rich ZA » Wed Dec 06, 2006 1:34 pm

I have just recieved my letter from NARIC that incorrectly assessed my Masters degree as a equivelent to a Bachelors.

Fortunatly I still have sufficient points to acquire HSMP but am unsure whether to apply before my appeal with NARIC is heard as I have sufficient points or wait, in case the exchange rate fluctuates significantly and I lose past earnings points.

Further, though it does not negativly affect me now, it will have significant implications for FLR in 2 years.

Hi Paramjit,

Where is it defined, that the exchange rate to be the last day of the salary slip? I guess in the guidance notes it is not mentioned anywhere.
Pls. let me know, the source of this considering the last day of the salary for the exchage rate.

Thanks,
NNJ10

Hi Pramjeet

what i can tell you from my experiance is they count the conversion rate on the day case worker is assesing the application.

That was before the nov 7th changes. Now nobody knows for sure as new guidance notes have not yet been published (FOR CASEWORKERS i mean) . Although this is likely to be the case still as it seems logical, one cannot know.

Rich ZA,

Sometimes NARIC evaluates a Master degree of a foreign university as equivalent to Bachelor degree of UK. What is your Master degree? Is your Bachelor degree in the same discipline as Master degree? From which country did you obtain the degrees?

Master of Science in Agriculture obtained from the University of Natal in South Africa.

The university authorities here say that the degree is fully accredited and have offered to write a letter to that effect but I am concerned that everythign relies on the integrity of the NARIC database rather than anyopther organisation.

My quesiton however remains, Should I apply for HSMP not with the lower assessment of the degree or wait for my appeal to be heard and comprimise all the earnings data I have accumulated as November 2005 salary will no longer be relevent.
