Concern with few banks - Getting seal (online statements)

Post by kartik_r » Mon May 28, 2012 4:32 pm

Folks,

This new thread is created to throw some light on some information to people that few banks in particular (Nat-west) refuse to sign the online printed statements. They used to do it before but no more (from Jan) however few after Jan have got it done ( especially in few Central London branches)

They say that Head office have instructed us as not to seal and sign printed statements. If we force them, they say, we'll loose our jobs if you do it. We're sorry but we can't.

How to handle these situations if some one who did nt have time to wait for the statement (10 days some times when ordered online) to come, in order to file applications before the visa run out.

Follow your thoughts/views on this..

The easiest solution is to plan in advance.

1. Don't start maintaining funds exactly 90 days before the date you wish to apply. Start maintaining the funds 100-120 days in advance.
2. Keep the statements that you receive by post in safe custody.
3. If unable to, request for duplicate statements well in advance (10-15 days) before intending to make an application .. through their customer care centre / branch.
4. Don't open an account wherein postal bank statements are not issued as standard.

The problem arises when people start maintaining funds at the last moment, so that the required period that one needs to hold the funds for finishes right at the last few days and then "printing a statement" is the only option left. In such case, visiting different branches of the bank that you hold the account with in the hope that you'll find someone who will show mercy at your plight is the only option.

Most of the banks now refuse to entertain customers who walk-in demanding ad-hoc statements, signed and stamped, to comply with UKBA requirements. Why? Because most banks follow a policy of not giving authority to branch staff to issue such statements and also because banks view it as a nuisance - specially so, when all the banks allow customers to request for duplicate statements through the service centre (for free or for a price).

If you can't plan, you cannot blame someone else for the situation that you may find yourself in.
