Hi Everyone,

Thank You

We got married on the 15th Feb 2012. We got enaged on Feb 14th last year. When the file was given to the jalandhar office, i had all the usual info (letter of emlplyment, banks statements, photos etc) , but did not submit any e-mails or skype as we only spoke on the phone, i had spoken to a solicitor and he told me that this could cause problem. I still gave the file in with a copy of my 02 bills and copy Lyca calls.
Visa granted for 27 months

So don't worry VFS only started sending messeges out on Monday 28th 2012. I know this because my wife spoke to a few people when she went to collect her passport.

You'll hear good news very soon

Hi,
I hope you get your visa application processed soon. Its been 15 days since your application. The average waiting time for spouse visas is 40-60 working days. Also there are facing delays due to Olympics. I know the waiting is a killer but we will all have to go through it. The only best friend you can make till your visa arrives is patience :). there is hope tho because large number of applications were processed in april compared to march. :)[/list]
12/04/12 : Application submitted at VFS Hyderabad.
16/04/12 : Application under process at BHC.
18/07/12 : Processed Application couriered via Bluedart.
19/07/12 : Visa Granted.

Hi everyone!

My husband applied for his visa 29 March 2012 and it still says Application has been forwarded to the British High Commission.
Is this normal? It has been over 40 working days, but it still hasn't changed to 'under process'.
His friend applied for his Settlement Visa after us, from the VFS KTM also, but he has been notified that his application is under process.
Does anyone have any ideas why ours would still not be under process? I hate the idea of it sitting on a desk somewhere!

Wishing you all luck on your applications!

Mmmmmm That is strange, I cant remember who but someone else had the same thing me and a few people advised him to check up on it but not sure what happened. Anyway, I would suggest calling the VFS office you applied. Did your wife have her biometircs done etc?

You can call VFS or you can call the BHC on a number on there site between 1pm and 3pm (India time) I would try VFS first. Has your wife tried to call them?

Get her to call first....

Let us know how you get on, just FYI I applied in AHM, Gujarat and it went under process within 3 or 4 days.

Also when did you friend apply and had he heard anything yet?

Good luck

@pazpatel
Hi thanks for your quick reply!

My husband did his biometrics on the day of application at the centre & then the application was sent to Delhi.

We have been getting more anxious because his previous Visit Visas all went under process quickly, we just assumed there was a backlog this time & it takes longer as it is Settlement Visa.
His friend applied after 29 March and he has received notification 'under process'.

My husband or I haven't called as the UKBA website says they don't answer queries until after 24weeks, but I will ask him to try call them tomorrow & see if he can find out anything.

Thanks for your advice!

Call VFS first.... There is a number on there website too. What is your status here are you a British Passport Holder? If so you are looking at 3 months before you ehar anything for settlement, dependent takes quicker I believe.

Hi ,

The same is with me ; same status till now -"forwarded".. I think it is not an issue because when i mailed the VFS ; this is the reply i got :
Dear Madam,

Greetings from VFS Global!

The applications are still under process with the British Deputy High Commission. Applicants are requested to redo their biometric data only when the High Commission faces technical problems in importing the data. The current processing time for settlement applications is about fifty working days. VFS plays no role in the processing time taken for assessing the applications. For any further clarification please write to the email id Chennai.visaenquiry@fco.gov.uk

Assuring you of our best services always…

Thanks and Regards,

VFS Feedback UK South India Team.

I applied on March 30th from VFS chennai.

@sk2912

Thanks for your message. I think the waiting is just getting to us both!

FYI My husband has just been searching & found one the information notices they gave him the day he applied & it says as follows:

Your application status message could be the following:

A) Your application is ready for collection; please visit the UK visa application centre where you submitted your visa application to collect the same.
THIS MEANS THE DECISION HAS BEEN TAKEN ON YOUR APPLICATION
B) Your visa application has been forwarded to the British High Commission.
THIS MEANS THE APPLICATION IS UNDER PROCESS AT THE HIGH COMMISSION AND NO DECISION HAS BEEN TAKEN YET
C) Your processed application is in transit.
THIS MEANS YOUR APPLICATION IS ON THE WAY AND DECISION HAS BEEN TAKEN ON YOUR APPLICATION .

I guess we were worrying for nothing. I wish I had found this site before we started the visa process - it would have helped a lot & put our minds at ease a lot, too!

I hope you get your visa soon!

:)

Hi I applied in AHM, Gujarat on 6th March, and still not heard anything, does anyone know of any delays at the moment processing VISA's?

Also Im getting myself prepared for a rejection as I also know people who have applied in India after me and they have heard results so im guessing I have not heard as maybe I am getting rejected. Does anyone know anyone or have experience in what happens when rejected? I have seen people over the year on this forum who have either had a rejection right at the end of the 3 month period OR within 4 weeks of applying, people who usually hear something between 4 and 8 weeks pass I think.

Has anyone spotted any trends like this before? And if rejected what happens? Process?

There is no real reason for me to get rejected but I am preparing my self for it as gone 60 days now for me and 5 days away from the 3 months. Like I said people who have applied after me have heard

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It just does not make any sense to me, I have just booked a flight to India, I feel so helpless to my wife, she needs my support. People who have applied up to 29th March have heard now that I know.

I know someone who applied on 12th March and she got it this morning, she got married 2 years ago and didnt apply as her husband was not working. She got hers.

Just doesnt make sense to me why I have not heard.

There must be something wrong in my documents, what though I do not know.

hi, i just wanted to share my experience with you.

I am British and living in England, my husband is Indian.

Submitted settlement visa 22.03.12
Visa sent to BHC in New Delhi 26.03.12
Paperwork ready for collection 28.05.12

Went to collect his paperwork today and the visa had been refused, only on the basis he didnt submit his English test results, he only submitted his certificate. They could have simply asked us to supply the one peice of paper required, but they were satisfied that he had passed the english test and had gained the required level needed..

The thing that makes me really angry about this refusal is, the standard paragraph at the bottom of the refusal notice was
"I have also taken account of artical 8 of the Human Rights Act. I consider that refusing this application is justified. I do not beleive that this application will interfere with family life, as you and your spouse can continue to enjoy that in India"

I am not too sure what they were thinking when they wrote this, as i am 5000 miles away in England.

I am going to send the paperwork off for appeal, will keep you posted with times scales.
