Switching from Tier 1 (PSW) to Tier 2 (General)

Post by junebal » Sat Jun 02, 2012 12:36 pm

Hi everyone,

Ihpe you're doing great! I am currently on a Tier 1 PSW visa, which will expire on the 17th of March 2017. I have a UK degree in Biomedical Science which I achieved in 2010 at University of Wolverhampton.

I am currently teaching in a College here England and it has been a year since I signed the fixed term contract. Now my employer is extending my contract to another 12 months and then hopefully a permanent contract.

My question is:
1.) How long will the Tier 2 Visa be if I did get it?
2.) What documents do I need?
3.) Also, my employer is paying for my education (I am currently studying towards my Teaching Qualification) Do they need to mention this?

Thank you very much. I hope someone can hep me.

This website has been really useful for me: I used this when I was applying for my Student Visa and PSW.

Thanks a lot Guys.

Tier 1 (PSW) leave is issued for 2 years.

1. 245HE. Period and conditions of grant
2. Tier 2 policy guidance
3. No.

245HE(e)(i) or 245HE(e)(ii), whichever is shorter.

The period of grant will depend on the "period of engagement" or "period of sponsorship". If your employer specifies that to be less than 3 years then 245HE(e)(i) will apply, else 245HE(e)(ii).
