VAF1B family visitor visa: query regarding question 5.9

Post by Sukhdeep » Sat Jun 02, 2012 4:13 pm

Hello,

I Am in UK on tier 1 visa since 2008. I plan to invite my father-in-law and mother-law to visit us for 2 months. My father-in-law has retired as a principal from a private but Govt Aided school. He was also working as NCC officer at the rank of Major. he retired from

NCC 2 years before he retired as Principal

I have a query in regards to VAF1b family visitor form:
5.9 have you ever worked for any organisation of a type (state or non-state) listed below ?

1. The option Armed forces (including national service): Is NCC be part of national service ?
- Also will he have to obtain no objection certificate to travel to UK, even if he is retired.

2. the option Government (central or local):
- Will his school be a private or govt organisation ?what should the answer be yes or no ?

Thanks

1. What is NCC? Ranks like "major" are used in only in armed / allied forces.
2. No.

Does the form / guidance asks that applicants provide a NOC?
Life isn't fair, but you can be!

Thanks for the reply sushdmehta.

1. NCC is National Cadet Corps, it is for school and college students. My Father-in-law was an Associate NCC Officer in the college as well a teacher. So it is not Army, but related forces. The Guidance notes does not ask any such doc, This doubt only came to my mind as I have heard that army officials who have retired still need a NOC to travel outside India but I was not sure about NCC.

Please see these link below for info abt NCC

Thanks
