Exemption from the 'knowledge of language and life in the UK

Post by spoiled brat » Thu May 31, 2012 6:16 pm

If you are aged 65 or over, or you have a long-term physical or mental condition that prevents you from learning English or being tested on your knowledge of life in the UK, you may not need to meet either the language requirement or the knowledge of life in the UK requirement. You can apply for exemption by ticking the appropriate box at section 1.20 on the application form.

Anyone here used that option or do you know someone who has, based on their health ? if so, what health conditions would qualify ?

i'm asking because my Aunt has a mental condition and she needs to apply for naturalization soon, just curious if such exemptions have been used here by the members ?

Best Wishes

A medical doctor will need to certify the health condition that warrants exemption for an applicant.

So, talk to your GP. He will be able to appropriately advise you about the various health conditions that may warrant such an exemption, and whether your aunt is eligible for it due to her medical condition. If he is unable to do it, he will refer your aunt to an appropriate specialist / consultant.
Life isn't fair, but you can be!
