Friends, had a query and would appreciate if someone could please answer it.

Let's say a person has submitted the "surrender of Indian passport" form today. It would be at least 3-4 days before the person gets the surrender certificate.

In the intermittent time, can the person fill up the 'Form A' of the OCI card? Form A of the OCI card can be filled online and after submitting the Form A, an online registration number is generated. So should one wait till receiving the surrender certificate or in the intermittent time, is it all right to at least fill up the Form A of the OCI card?

Yes you can fillup part A online OCI form before receiving surrender certificate,I did that very next day after surrending passport and has no problem in submitting OCI application in HCI london.

After submitting the Form A online and a registration number being generated, the Forms A & B was being printed and after Part -A (which states "for each applicant of the family) and Part-B (which states "other details of applicants") was printed, the paper in the machine jammed, so the remaining 3 pages were not printed out.

Now the problem is if I resubmit Form A online, a new registration number would be generated which may create problems while submitting the OCI form.

Any idea what it stated in the remaining 3 pages, as well as suggestions as to how to print out the remaining 3 pages of the OCI application form (also, any links to the remaining 3 pages of the OCI application form would be highly appreciated).

Any suggestions as to how to print out the remaining 4 pages of the Form B of the OCI application (any links to the remaining 4 pages of the Form B would be highly appreciated)? I ask this as form B is only generated after submitting the Form A online.
Not a problem lastlap,

You should have received a mail which will have detail how to reprint you part a and part b form.If you haven't received then here is the link

https://passport.gov.in/oci/OCI_DupApplForm.jsp

you just have to give registration number and DOB.

Point 10 of the guidance notes in the OCI form states:

"This form when completed should be submitted in duplicate
(both sets must have original photograph and signature along with enclosures)".

If anyone has recently submitted his/her OCI form, please could you confirm whether this is indeed the case i.e. form when completed has to be submitted in duplicate.

Thanks.

Keep a set of duplicate document and form.Person sitting on the OCI counter also doesn't know.He has asked to submit in duplicate from few people and few peoples he didn't,so its better to keep a copy.

Hi, not sure if anyone can help me here but I have been waiting for over 6 months for my OCI to be approved. We submitted our documents and application on 23/12/2011 and till now it is still showing UNDER PROCESS. Is it supposed to say something else? I have tried ringing the Birmingham Consulate where we submitted our application but the phone line is always 'busy' and I have emailed them on numerous occassions but they do not respond. There are 3 applications and we have spent over £500 on this just to be still kept waiting 6 months later. What can I do?

I heard birmingham application is always slow and people waiting here for more than 3 months but your case is extreme so If they are not responding over phone and email, its better to go there and find out where is the issue?

That's bad on their part. Did you give your application in person or post? Has your document got ACKNOWLEDGED?

If it is ACKNOWLEDGED, nothing to worry. Still it is more than 6 months and if I was you, I would have walked in person and found about the status.

OCI Collection via post

Post by testocicoll » Thu Jul 05, 2012 10:06 pm

Hi Pavash, have you received your British passport with OCI visa stamped? I can see in your earlier posts that you are waiting for British passport. I sent my British passport last week with a self addressed envelope. They haven't posted my passport yet.

Can any one else confirm what are the timelines for OCI postal collections?

Thanks
