Query about Section 6 - Immigration History in SET (O) form

Post by ak36 » Mon Jul 09, 2012 2:56 pm

Dear friends,

I am currently filling in the SET (O) form for my ILR visa. I can't get my head around as to what date I should supply in Q 6.1 of the application form which says 'When did you first enter the UK? This refers to the date of your first entry into the UK at the beginning of the period of stay on which this application is base.'
I first entered the country in November 2004 on student visa which I switched to work permit in September 2007. I have made a number of visits out of the UK since my work permit in 2007. I am a bit confused about which date I should put in the form i-e November 2004 or March 2008 when I made my first trip on work permit visa and entered the UK for first time since my works permit.

I would appreciate your advise here on this matter.
Thanks,

The answer is :

When did you first enter the UK? This refers to the date of your first entry into the UK at the beginning of the period of stay on which this application is based.

Query about Section 6 - Immigration History in SET (O) form

Post by ak36 » Mon Jul 09, 2012 10:39 pm

Thanks for your responses.

As mentioned, I was in the UK when my student visa converted to Work Permit in September 2007. I travelled out of the UK in March 2008 for the first time and came back on 24th March 2008 so I assume that the answer to this question should be 24th March 2008 because this was the date when I first entered the UK on the visa which is the basis of my current application. Am I correct in assuming this? Please advise.

Thanks RLMY. In fact, I downloaded the new form this afternoon from UKBA website.

Hi

The answer is very very simple that you've converted your Student Visa to WP inside the United kingdom just mention the date which says on your WP vigennte that would be the date which you need to put on for the answer to that question not the 24th March 2008.

The date 24th March 2008 you need to use in your immigration history that when you left and came back to UK.

I'll give you my example I was a student and I got my WP on the 14 Sep 2009 and I was in the UK when I got my WP stamped on my PP the Vigennet start date for the WP in my case is 14 Sep 2009 so I'll use that date and I travelled in Jan 2010 for my holidays and then came back in Feb 2010 so I am not going to use Feb 2010.

Think about it mate if you use the date you're mentioning in your post 24th March 2008 then your application is not even valid to apply for ILR
Hope this will help you in answering your question and clearing the doubts and confusions what you've got in your mind.

Please do kindly share your PEO experience with us on the forum.

Good luck for your ILR.

Thanks very much for such detailed answer smam.

Apart from providing an answer to this question in my Set (O) form, I am indeed very clear now on the logic behind this question.

I will certainly share my PEO experience with all following my appointment.
