Address change notification

Hi All,

I have recently renewed my Tier1 Visa and got the BRP cards. With BRP cards I received a booklet as well which said that I should inform UKBA if I changed my home address. But the details given over there is only the BRP Error email address.
So I wanted to know that how everyone does this? How much mandatory it is and what happens to those who doesn't have BRPs instead have got Visa on passport itself?

Write to the following address about your address change. Also mention a request to send you acknowledgement once they update your address. I did the same 2 months ago and i got a confirmation letter from UKBA. Its not mandatory but its always good to update your details.

Details Included in my letter:

Full Name, Old Address, New Address, DOB, Contact details...

Change of Address Team
11th Floor Lunar House
Wellesley Road
Croydon
CR9 2BY

I think that link is for the address change during the Visa process or while you await for your BRP card to be received.

I had thought so as well since it asks for HO reference number but doesn't mention anywhere on the page that is only for in-process applications. The actual form just says

Use this form to tell us about a change to your UK address or other important details we hold about you.

So looks like it is a generic form.

Apparently the online form is not the right one, based on this
